I totally know what you're saying, I really do but..........surely there are still some players left that want to feel part of something and be part of something special and good Its not like even the 'badly' played players are found wanting for money is it? Most of them have more than they know what to do with the bloddy barstools
Many players are only interested in the money, but the Dr. is right, not all of them. There are some who can be persuaded that a club is on the way up and that they can be part of something maeaningful. Besides, the top clubs can only accommodate so many players, and some want to get out there and play rather than sit on their wallets all the time, so will be happy to go to a club who aren't right at the top at the moment.
There's that hope again Saintanton And it's the Hope That Kills Yer! For the sake of the game, I hope you are right.
I've re-read my post three times now and noticed I mis-spelt meaningful. But try as I might I just can't find the word "hope" in there.
Were they??? As Kenny says today, the club have said nothing to anyone about anything, how do any of us know the first thing about Kenny's targets. All this bull**** about sources inside the club is just rubbish. Anyone at the club runs the risk of getting sacked if they are found to be selling stories to the press, so who is going to risk it? And who at the club will even know who our targets are? The security guard at Melwood? Someone who works in the ticket office? Does anyone really think that anyone below, say, Steve Clarke has the slightest clue? If anyone at the club was to say anything, it will be because the club want it out there, to gauge the players interest maybe, and if we have missed out on players it is because they never really wanted to be here, if Phil Jones and Ashley Young wanted to go to Man U then so be it, they are more successful at this time. If Wickham really was a die-hard red, then he would have turned Sunderland down if he really thought Liverpool were interested in him, but he didn't, so it is safe to presume that we weren't. When it comes to choosing Newcastle over us, you know we've dogged a bullet and avoided a mercenary, who is only after money. I mean Newcastle is just an abortion of a club at the mo, when you have such a tool as the owner, what can you do? So to turn down working under one of the best footballers to have ever graced a pitch, and give up the chance to play along side some world class talent, you must be a real money grabber with absolutely no interest in the beautiful game. So it sux to be Marveuax, only thinking about who will pay him more. So if we are haggling over Adam, so what, if we miss him, so what? We are not really desperate for another midfielder, we have Aquaman back for set pieces and corners, so no crying loss there. But if we get him for a reasonable fee and get some first team experience for a couple of younger lads, all the better. You see, it's like love. You are full of romantic crap if you think there is only one person for you, it's the same with Liverpool, we might have a list of five or six players for each position, and each and every one of them could do as good a job as any other. So if, and it's a real IF, we are losing out on any players, so be it, they don't really want to be here, or we don't want to be taken to the cleaners by their club. But if we missed out on, say, Phil Jones, it's far from the end of the world. He is not the best centre back on this planet, lots of players are as good as him, we'll go get one of them for the right price and for someone who really wants to come to us. We may get Downing, we may get Mata, we may get neither, and that doesn't count as a disaster by any stretch of the imagination, both have skills and both could do a job, but neither are some magical one off player that will make or break us. So I'm bored by the lack of any activity, not concerned. No need for drama and hissy fits, the world is not coming to an end any time soon.
Remember friends? all the episodes had titles that started "The one where...." Like the one where Ross did something to Joey, or such like. Can we title this thread the one where Raaaul had a melt-down. ;-) I don't think anyone will convince him that the sky is not falling down.
Raaaul does make some good points, we just have to keep faith and hope that there are some good signings on the way. I'm not worried about any of the supposed missed targets so far.
