A quick chat with Mr Higgs. He talks about no week match until mid November now following a busy 5/6 weeks full of games. He says "DC aims to have a couple of new players joining in the next few weeks because we want to be prepared for xmas" - to be ready for when the games come thick and fast again. He goes on to say "we will then look at it again at xmas being prepared to see if we need anything else for the final push to end of the season". He then talks about UWE but nothing worth mentioning. Watch it here....
striker who can score and a LB to challenge Brown. I dont think Brown has been that good to be honest. Good free kick taker and gets assists but general play, he has declined since last season. He has no one to challenge him and I think he has got complacent.
You're probably right because we had loanees like Daniel Jones, while Gary Sawyer sometimes played at CB.
Nick Higgs says manager Darrell Clarke will reaffirm Bristol Rovers' position among the Vanarama Conference promotion-chasing pack by adding one or two new faces to his squad before the deadline for loan transfers at the end of next month. Clarke has been casting his eyes over some trialists over the last few days and confirmed he had "one or two" irons in the fire as regards the possibility of adding new faces to a squad that extended an unbeaten run to nine games with a 2-2 draw at Aldershot on Saturday. Higgs said: "Darrell's aim is to get another couple of new additions within the next few weeks. We want to continue this good run up until Christmas and then reassess what we might need to do (in the January transfer window) to help us with that final push towards the end of the season. Darrell has scope within the budget to bring players in and we will try to improve that budget if we need to. He has a list of players he is looking at, but we have a very good team spirit going at the moment and we have to make sure anyone we bring here is able to fit in with that." Clarke is believed to be toying with the option of adding further defensive cover and is almost certain to look at the possibility of bolstering a strikeforce that has found goals hard to come by. Of the top ten in the Vanarama Conference, only Macclesfield Town have scored fewer goals than the 20 Rovers have managed. Higgs said: "Everybody is craving a few more goals and that is what we are looking to try to add, but the team is unbeaten in nine and that is a good position to be in. I think it has been quite noticeable that the players have a bit more resilience this season because when we went a goal behind last year we often crumbled at times. The players have shown that they can grind out a result as well as get victories in a more expansive fashion. The only disappointment for me is that I feel we could have taken nine points instead of the five we have taken from the last three games." http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Bristo...romises/story-23169571-detail/story.html?5656
Clarke has spoken to the press today and was asked about potential new signings that Higgs spoke in this thread. DC confirmed..... "DC targeting the arrival of a new player or two before Rovers play away at Telford on November 1." https://twitter.com/JPMcnamara7/status/522691812516196353 "DC confirmed one offer has already been made to one player's agent." https://twitter.com/JPMcnamara7/status/522691812516196353
Here is James Mcnamara's write up.... Manager Darrell Clarke is hoping to welcome two new faces into his squad before Bristol Rovers make the trip to AFC Telford United at the start of November. Clarke this morning confirmed that an offer of a permanent deal had already been made to one player’s agent – but indicated that any movement on that particular deal would be unlikely before Rovers take on Forest Green Rovers at the Memorial Stadium on Saturday. The manager was unwilling to divulge any further details on the potential signing – but a striker is expected to be high on his list of priorities with Adam Cunnington scheduled to return to Cambridge United at the end of his 93-day loan spell after Rovers have played at Chester on November 22. Clarke said: “We’ve made an offer to bring a player in on a permanent deal. It is going to be difficult to get someone in before the Forest Green game on Saturday, but we are being proactive and we will see how things develop over the next couple of weeks. There are still areas of the pitch that need strengthening and Ideally, I’d like to bring in two new players before we play at Telford on November 1. We have a heavy run of games after that and I definitely want to add some more strength in depth.” Clarke, meanwhile, has confirmed that Angelo Balanta has returned to light training following a period of three weeks out with a thigh strain. Midfielder Stuart Sinclair, who missed last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Aldershot because of a knee injury, will be assessed over the next couple of days. Tom Lockyer serves a one-match suspension after collecting his fifth yellow card of the season at the Recreation Ground last weekend.
We are much better placed to attract players to join us now that we are showing real signs of progress.
Do we need a couple of new strikers! We're just wasting far too many chances... should have won easily today....
IMO we need two new strikers then off load White and Taylor they just don't impress me just my opinion though
Rendell played for us a few years ago and looked quite good. He's now the top scorer in The Conference...
It would make more sense if he got a few minutes every game and played occasionally like Harrison. Can't make sense of it either...
its harsh really. taylor is a good player. he has pace, if you watch him closely he has very good movement which causes the defence all sorts of issues, he gets into scoring chances. the only thing missing is goals. hopefully that will come. i can see dropping him would dent his confidence an dmake the situation worse. i can see why DC insists on playing him because scoring a goal could be the difference. but to us fans, every game counts and we want goals now before we fall away from the top teams. i think its harsh but he has everything apart from goals and that will come but we need goals now so i agree with most that DC needs to try someone else. start white instead. i prefer harrison as a sub. cunningtons last game is chester. so we need a striker in asap to be up an running - match fit - in time for 22nd november.
