Too early to predict where anyone will finish yet - barring the top 2 imo. In terms of the top 4, there'll be 5 or 6 sides chasing the 2 available spare spots.
If we are honest it will be a fight between arsenal, United and ourselves for 3rd and 4th. If United take points off Chelsea and the other top sides, I fear they'll develop the momentum we had last season. The mid and lower teams will find it very difficult to get points off them. We on the other hand will need to get Sturridge back and beat teams below and around us as soon as possible.
Not confident of finishing any higher than 4th, but at this moment I'd take getting out the groups of the CL and 4th place in the league. If can throw in a domestic cup to go with that I'd be very happy Think if we can get the team back to full fitness then we can easily challenge. we've seen what we can do to good teams like beating Spurs 3-0 away from home but it's about being consistent now. Something that we were last year but before that have never really been for a good few years.
I think we can and will finish 4th. We have suffered a lot since the start of the season with injuries, poor form and players taking time to flourish. However, unlike Spurs last season I have started to see signs that we can gel very well. This season was never going to be a repeat of last season but I just get the feeling that we are on the cusp of finding a new style which might not be so laden with goals but will make the points return that we need.
Me too. Although I like every fan would have enjoyed and been grateful for last season's initially unexpected run, it is also disappointing that we do not seem to have consolidated on previous improvements. Would most of the fans here agree that last season was a blip in that it was way more than was expected and that we are coming down from that high? I don't mind a blip as long as the long term trajectory is upwards. What we want is to become a consistent top 4 side - like chelsea or Arsenal. What would be bad is being back to square one.
Depends on Dan's fitness... we'll definitely get nothing from City and Chelsea this season but the pace of our attack will allow us to trouble everyone else. The defence really needs sorting out though... what's Steve Clarke doing these days??
Slainte Mapes. It's still early days but I'll be straightforward and say yes we'll finish in the top 4.
Agree that Chelsea and City will be #1 & 2 respectively barring one or both being injury plagued. Unfortunately I don't agree that our pace of attack will trouble everyone else. Spurs apart, we've looked very laboured. Hope that Sturridge will change that but we shouldn't be relying on him alone, he's had too many injuries to do that. Our defensive frailties haven't gone away either. Having said that, we're in touch after an awful, disjointed start, level with Arsenal. Who bought their missing link for the title....again!!.... Utd have played nobody of note....seriously, how did that happen?? , Their defence is just awful so will drop many more points this season (next season is a different matter, imo, they'll be challenging if they keep spending AND qualify for C)L. Everton haven't hit top gear yet, nor have Spurs.... So, if we start to get players back and in form AND defend properly, we'll be challenging for third and fourth, along with the usual susepcts. Confident we'll be challenging. Yes. Confident of finishing top 4. Not entirely, no!!
