People are being fined hundreds of pounds for dropping cigarette ends in Swansea, which is correct. The same should apply to those that spit chewing gum onto the same pavements, walkways. Not only is it disgusting it costs, you and I,a small fortune to clean up.

    Rant over.Now off to Chapel.........

Agree, and what about the dog owners who allow their dogs to foul the beaches and parks, too lazy to use a doggy bag. Also the police horses who dump their load outside stadiums on match days with impunity,as fans try to tiptoe around the mess!

What about spitting? I wish they would make everyone who does 'spit', go back and SUCK it up! Do not want my kids running about in someone else's 'spit'. IMO screened games that show a person spitting, then the team should get fined an ever increasing amount. What is your opinion?

Chewing gum on pavements make towns and cities so off putting. I do feel sorry for the poor people that have to clean it all up. About time the manufacturers developed this product so it desolves over time or by contact with chemicals. Let's be honest it's not hard to put chewing gum in the bin.

You know what I find worse than people not cleaning up dogshit? The people that do clean it up and just chuck the bag. As if that's better. If you walk up through Lliw Valley Reservoir, there are instances of bags not just being chucked, but tied or hung from gate posts or trees. I'd rather they left the **** on the path than have little coloured bags that are clearly full of **** all over the place.

What about smoking ! People seem to think it's ok to smoke in public... it's like they are shouting "look at me everyone - I'm an addict and I don't give a ****e". People have no self respect anymore. The cost of smokers to the NHS is way more than the cost of cleaning up after them with their stinky butts (of the cigarette type). It's all very well saying it's ok to smoke outside, but every time I leave a pub or office I have to walk through a huge cloud of filth created by the addicts outside.
When my wife was pregnant, as her work for the NHS is in the community, sometimes they car-share. The number of times her co-workers asked her "do you mind if I smoke ?" whilst travelling as a passenger in her car was shocking. She would say "no" but would feel quite awkward about it as she's quite a shy girl. People just don't give a ****e do they ? In what world is it ok to smoke in a car with a pregnant woman ?
    That's my rant.

It's bloody criminal that we still sell these things given everybody knows the harm they do. But, they are another powerful corporation that dictate governmental policy.

Let's ban cigarettes totally - but be prepared for a tax hike in your paypacket. Still happy with that idea? Thought not. I'm not a smoker btw.

Better still, let's ban alcohol because "eveyone knows the harm it does", oh and it costs the NHS too.

**** me, all some people want to do is get up, go to work, got to bed, rinse and repeat. Just like the government seem to want you to retire when you're 70 (that'll come) then shuffle off and die quickly so as not to be a burden to the NHS.

Let people do what they want provided they don't harm anyone else ffs. Start banning stuff and you end up in a totalitarian, nanny state.

Smoking does harm other people. There is no need for it. Quite frankly, I'd double the VAT on cigarettes and alcohol. That would relive the pressure and slash the bill on the NHS and free up much needed financial resources for more important means as fewer people would be affected.

If only it was that simple, Valley. As I said, I'm not a smoker and can't even stand the smell of it but where these days do smokers harm other people? Come on.

Doubling VAT will hardly make a dent in the NHS. Besides, won't that hurt the huddled masses that you're always championing on here? You know, the ones with Sky TV, booze and *** habits but **** all in the fridge?

When I see Chaverella pushing her kid in the stroller with her *** burning away in her hand.......
When I see someone smoking in the car with their kids in the back...

I'm sure there are many more instances. As I said earlier - people have no self respect and don't give a toss about anyone else either.

oh, and I don't smoke, never have, yet I don't have a problem with those who do; I must be weird or something.

Wierd enough to drink even though, as a nation, we spend innaudinately more money managing the after-blast and carnage caused by the use of alcohol. A&E, Ambulances, Police, Medical staff, social workers, undertakers, etc etc. I think we spend more on alcohol abuse in 3 months than the combined sum total we spend on issues casued through nicotine and drug abuse in a whole year.

    Drink anyone?

Spot on Stumpy. I'm exactly like you. I don't smoke but if others want to do so then fine provided they don't blow it at me. 'Seeing' someone smoke isn't bad for your health last time I checked. After defeating fascism 70 years ago we've come full circle. Orwell was dead right you know.

Stumpy - not a holier than thou Anti-smoking Nazi, I just take acceptation to people having the gall to ask my pregnant wife if it's ok to smoke in her car when they are travelling to work with her. ****ing addicts with no respect for anyone or themselves. Simple.

....and Dragonborn, I've had plenty of smoke blown in my face by smokers who are not paying much attention to their surroundings. Some apologise, some don't.
