Call me old fashioned but I'd prefer to live where the majority of my family are. Furthermore, my young nieces and nephews are now going to grow up in what is now a region as opposed to being a country. My vote was on their behalf and my beel is about their future stolen by the cowardly selfish ****s of today. My beel over this will never end.
^^^^ newco Don't fret, Drew, yer life might one day be somewhat like it used to be. But don't count on it.
Callin me Welsh is goin far too far, you ****. I might rip the pish out of people's mental/physical/social deficiencies but I wid never initimate they were Welsh
On this point, I have heard it mooted and I feel it makes sense in particular situations, such as a referendums, to have a weighted vote system in place. As a referendum is essentially relating to a long term / permanent proposal, it makes sense that those affected by this outcome the most, aka those who will be dealing with / enjoying the consequences of the change the longest, should have the greatest say as part of a more equitable process. The majority of no voters were in the older demographic and have essentially condemned a predominantly independence seeking younger demographic to a future they did not want. The rough proposal was based along age classifications e.g. 18-35 = a vote of 1.5 per person, 36-59 = a vote of 1 per person, 60+ a vote of 0.5 per person. This would not be applicable in other voting situations, e.g. parliamentary elections, where the consequences (the length of office) are relatively short term. 1 vote per person is what would be considered "equal", giving those who will live out the future decided by the vote the greater say in it is what would be considered "equitable". Equality and equitability are different concepts the balance between the two should be a constant consideration in all issues relating to democracy and governance.
What a stupid thing to say ... Have you always held this opinion (that scotland is a region) or only since the toys were thrown out the pram after the independence vote?
ST has hijacked Gambol's account. Quite why there is so much beel about the democratic will of the Jock people is deeply perplexing for this papish ****. Sure, it looks like the vow made in the run-up to the referendum looks like it's being broken in front of our very eyes, but no shock to this unrepentant fenian bastard. Why the Yesers now seem hell bent on antagonising the No camp seems like a crazy policy, surely you need to persuade them that they were wrong, not rub their noses in it? Anyway, if there is ever Indy, and they rename George square, Freedom Square, I will kill.
