Spunk breath You just come out with the same **** all the time. "You wouldn't be saying that if it was a United player!" YOU wouldn't be saying what you are saying if it was a United player that's for sure, but not everyone is as tribal as you. Can't speak for Pool fans, but I call it as I see it, regardless of what shirt the player wears at club level.
That is the price you sometimes pay when you play for your country. I do not think that Sterling was being asked to play whilst injured. He said he was "tired" not injured. Have you ever come across a player pulling himself out of an England team for being "tired"?

Jesus I find myself in agreement with Rio Ferdinand eeeeewwww. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29596723 Need a shower now Waiting for Matth to back track now a Former United player is backing up Sterling.
Sterling didn't pull himself out of the England team. He let his manager know he felt tired and wasn't sure he could play at 100%. That's absolutely the right thing to do - allow the manager to make the best decision based on all the available information. Imo it would be worse for England if he pretended everything was fine, went out there half fit, and was a liability to the team. Like Rio says, if more England players actually had the balls to be honest, instead of feeling this ridiculous pressure to play through injury for 'the shirt' and 'the lads', we might actually have a chance of winning something once in a blue moon. Tho' as Drogs says, the key test of his honesty will come if he feels less than 100% against a good side in a high profile match. As for Hodgson - like I said in the other thread, I don't think he's trying to grind an axe with Liverpool, he's just trying (and failing) to deal with the endless media circus that is the England job. No matter what he said, the media and some fans would line up to crucify him, guess he feels it's better to be hung for being honest rather than for inventing some BS excuse for his team selection.
Alan Shearer : "The working man who is up at 6am does not want to hear how tired a 19-year-old footballer is."
You are too believing of the press.. My view is that Brenda got to him and asked him to pull out because it was "just" Estonia. Do you think he would have said he was "tired" if it were France or Germany England was playing against?
The only high profile games England play are in group stages of tournaments, before they get knocked out.
Some good comments on here and then the usual crap from Matth (as well as a homophobic comment, thought you went both ways Matth?). If he really felt that he was not 100% and couldn't perform then good on him for being honest and grabbing recovery in a game where he should not be needed. The comments from some about him being a pro footballer and what about the working man is nonsense imo, he's not said poor me I'm tired he's trying to manage his game time and prevent possible injury. The other side of the coin is that he was told by the club to go but manage your playing time, I don't blame Liverpool if they've requested this. The only one who comes out of this badly if Roy who just should have kept quiet or dropped in a squad rotation comment.
900 minutes of football earning how much Compared to a 40 hour working week job.... 9600 minutes, yeah got to feel sorry for them lol
That point would be valid, if "the working man" ran 7 miles per day every day, like Sterling does every match.
At his alleged new pay offer of £125K/week, that makes him £18,000 a day if he runs every day or if he runs 7 miles a day he will have been paid more than £2500 for each mile he runs...
Oh yeah I also forgot, the amount of money you are paid also has a direct correlation to how far you can run. Doesn't matter if he is getting paid a billion dollars a second, or whoever much silly clubs decide to splash out on players these days, the human body still has limits.
And guess what if those people are tired........... Wait for it............................... THEY STILL GOT TO WORK
I know a few people who would happily run around 7 miles a day for the money he's on than graft for 12 hours mate! I'm not talking 12 hours behind a computer screen either. Shearer is spot on with what he said imo.
