QPR to appoint Glenn Hoddle as manager if downward spiral continues under Harry Redknapp Oct 11, 2014 22:30 By Dave Kidd The Rs have won just one of their opening seven games this season and sit bottom with fixtures against Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City to come Not triffic: Will struggling QPR ditch Redknapp (left) and hand the reins to Hoddle (right)? QPR owner Tony Fernandes will turn to Glenn Hoddle if Harry Redknapp cannot halt the Hoops' dismal early-season form. Redknappâs job is on the line with QPR bottom of the Premier League after five defeats in their first seven games â and with Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City to come in their next four fixtures. Fernandes is unlikely to pull the trigger soon, but club sources say former England boss Hoddle, who joined the coaching set-up this summer, will be the prime candidate to take over if a change is made. QPR legend Les Ferdinand has returned to the club as Head of Football Operations, but 56-year-old Hoddle is said to be in front of Ferdinand or his close ally Tim Sherwood should Fernandes dispatch of the vastly experienced Redknapp. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/qpr-appoint-glenn-hoddle-manager-4420305#ixzz3Fsmsc6wL Follow us: @DailyMirror on Twitter | DailyMirror on Facebook
Our squad needs a good kick up the r's. Is Hoddle the man to do that? Pulis most certainly is but would the football be any more entertaining than it has been for the past couple of years? Couldn't be much worse!
Glen would be a further step back than foreward ,being out to long to all of a sudden to be right in the limelight so quickly and being with QPR puts him automatically on the back pages
Correct, MSR. Hoddle is almost of dinosaur vintage at this stage himself. 10, 15 years out of management? That's an age in football terms. If they was going to appoint someone from within they'd be best off with Sir Les. (Or Jude the cat)
Everyone has to start somewhere. He's been in coaching a good while now and he'd bring a fresh approach because he's young and enthusiastic. Hoddle has done sweet F A since he's arrived by the looks of things and he's a bit too fond of the media. He's too like the old guard for me. I wouldn't want him.
I dont necc want Hoddle but Les has done nothing of note anywhere, as far as i know. Would yo really put him in charge of a Prem team of should we look or someone doing ok in the lower leagues? Ive yet to see a good centre forward make it as a manager. Keegan, Shearer et a all failed. I dont believe in CF bieng captains as they see th game n a diffent way from a Centre back say. Id like to see what Les could do before he tarnishes his reputation with us tbh
The point was about who from within the Club would be best. So its between Hoddle, Ferdinand, Bond and Jordan (or one of the players). It'd be Ferdinand for me. What about yourself mate? Hoddle?
I thought for a moment there that you were talking about Rio.... TBHit can only be Hoddle or Les. Dont think either of them are the right choice TBH. Dont see why it has to be "from within"? I was listening to the podcast the other day and they made a good point that there is no point in saking Harry as Tony will only employ someone exactly the same as him. He craves the media, as does Harry as did Hughes etc. he employs people like himself. (or words to that effect) If we ack harry he'll be loking at "big name" managers again....whats the point ? Whilst we may be crap ATM, TF is never going to employ a Pullis or Warnock etc. Was well worth a listening to the last one. TF came in for some stick !
Tim Sherwood tipped to replace Redknapp at QPR - but another ex-Spurs boss is the front runner Tim Poole Profile Pic Tim Poole Tony Fernandes could replace Harry Redknapp with Glenn Hoddle if he loses faith in the Queens Park Rangers boss. #456198760 / gettyimages.comhas Tim Sherwood could be a surprise candidate in line to replace Harry Redknapp at QPR, according to the Daily Mirror. Rs owner Tony Fernandes is said to be unlikely to want to sack Redknapp - but will consider his options if the west London's side woeful run of form continues. QPR are rock bottom of the Premier League table after seven games and have won just once so far this season. It is another former Tottenham Hotspur boss that Fernandes could reportedly turn to if he does wield his axe, however, as first-team coach Glenn Hoddle is touted by the Mirror report as favourite to replace 67-year-old Redknapp, with club sources cited as confirming the rumour. Les Ferdinand, another former Spurs coach who has re-joined QPR as head of football operations, has also been suggested as a possible Redknapp replacement. Interestingly, bookmakers see Sherwood as the front runner to become the Rs' next permanent manager, contradicting the Mirror's report. According to Oddschecker, the 45-year-old is as low as 2/5 to take up the reins at Loftus Road, with Tony Pulis and Gianfranco Zola both ahead of Hoddle.
Pressure grows on QPR boss Harry Redknapp as rock-bottom Hoops face hellish run of fixtures Oct 12, 2014 22:30 By John Cross Chairman Fernandes is increasingly concerned over the Londoners' situation and 3 of their next 4 games are against Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City Jamie McDonald Hairy, Redknapp: QPR will leave "no stone unturned" as they fight to avoid relegation Harry Redknapp is under mounting pressure at Queens Park Rangers. QPR chairman Tony Fernandes is growing increasingly concerned about the club's plight in the Premier League after their poor start to the campaign. Manager Redknapp is under no illusion that results must improve - but the west Londoners' next four games are against Liverpool, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Manchester City. It looks a difficult task, and further talks are planned this week among the hierarchy to discuss the club's situation. Fernandes has already promised to leave "no stone unturned" in their battle to stay up and has already shaken up things behind the scenes. Les Ferdinand, the former QPR striker, has been appointed as head of football operations to oversee coaching, recruitment and the academy. They appointed former England manager Glenn Hoddle to the coaching staff earlier in the season to join Redknapp and his back-room team of Kevin Bond and Joe Jordan. But results have been disappointing and they are rooted to the foot of the Premier League. Fernandes and Redknapp both mentioned fitness levels need to improve last week and that remains an area of concern as to why the players have not been competing. Mirror Sport revealed last week that a new contract offer to Redknapp has been withdrawn and that looks increasingly ominous. Redknapp's position is still in danger and the ex-Spurs boss looks vulnerable as he remains the bookies' favourite to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/pressure-grows-qpr-boss-harry-4425564#ixzz3G0bP0w5K Follow us: @DailyMirror on Twitter | DailyMirror on Facebook other than filling a seat at the ground what is harry in charge of
Yeah, that might work out alright Betty. It'd be a big risk putting Joey in charge of anything though, especially a PL Club. What would happen when we've lost a few and the pressure builds? Would he attack the players? How would he handle the pressure of the media? Maybe Joey in particular would be better off starting down the leagues a bit where he's out of the spotlight and gaining some experience that way. Queens, I wouldn't appoint from within the Club either. If they was changing the Manager I'd have a massive clear out and tell Hoddle and Black to get on their bike along with Redknapp and his two clowns. I know you're staying loyal to Harry mate but I've had enough of him. The team looks totally rudderless and Harry don't look bovvered. I think we need a fresh approach.
The only benefit of Harry's objectivity and apparent indifference that I can see, is that if there is a change, hopefully it would be a bloodless coup and the transition to making, say, Hoddle manager would be by consent. TF may be able to dress the power change up, by making Harry Director of Football (more title than teeth) for a season or two.
If she hadn't passed away, I'd have put Barbara Cartland as a good replacement - now there was a prolific author. Perhaps Hoddle could call in a medium and she could pass on instructions via Ouija board. There would also be something very apt about our players taking to the pitch in pink chiffon at the moment.
