0-0 just before HT - we're not exactly lighting the world on fire with our play, but perhaps we just have to be patient and wait for our moment to come?

Hoping for a more inspired 2nd half.

Are we playing? England's group is so pathetically uncompetitive its barely worth it, though it does give us plenty of opportunity to humiliate ourselves.

Compare to Scotland and Ireland , who have Germany and Poland to cope with. Though they also have Gibraltar, a British Overseas Territory rather than a country, I have no idea how they get to be included.

 

Finally, England 1-0 up, Rooney scores from a free kick just on the edge of the penalty area - ball just sneaks in past their keeper.

 

I've been watching it. Scrappy and pretty dull. Still, what I wouldn't give for a scrappy one-niller next Sunday afternoon, eh Killy?

 

I'd definitely take that, but suspect a 3-2 type result is perhaps more likely.

Commentator described England's style of play today as "Laborious, but getting the job done", which sounds a bit like us last season in the Championship.

 

I do hate these early evening kick offs. I find that falling asleep before 6pm whilst watching the borefest that is England disturbs my usual sleep pattern. Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know but, **** me, what of entertainment? I can't see the better teams in Europe quaking in their collective boots after that.

The Yanks of course have their own version of "Harvest Festival" on November 27th, which is a bit too close to Christmas for me.

 

Just about to get my hands up a large crinkly necked poultry's arse Kilburn. Enjoying a lovely autumnal day (fall just doesn't cut it eh?) at the cottage on Lake Erie....3rd pint of Guinness halfway done and a couple of Ripasso's lined up for later....wife, mum-in-law, sister-in-law and her fiancée lounging around while I slave away in the kitchen getting a good buzz on!!

Rooney was indeed poor, apart from the goal.

No doubt the newspapers will make him MOM though.

 

Valid points re Germany, Spain, Portugal & even Italy limping past Azerbaijan at home. Guess the difference is these countries still perform in the final even when they have challenges qualifying.....& they've all won the World Cup this century

 

Apart from Portugal obviously...but you get my point
