We're playing a diamond, so we need width from the full-backs. Are we getting it? No. Get Clyne on, push him and Baines right up the pitch. Lallana in the hole behind Rooney and Welbeck. Delph to sit at the bottom of the diamond and Henderson and Wilshere to try and get things moving. Come on Roy, sort it out!
Looking forward (not) to half time comments as that muppet Chiles goes to advert break saying that the pundits are purring about the diamond rotation. How the **** can we purr about 0-0 versus a team who drew with Gibraltar
Opening the finals to a greater number of teams means that nearly half the teams in Europe will qualify....giving a chance to the second tier teams. Good at one level, but means that there will be even more games like this. It is like watching a good PL team against a poor Championship/Division 1 side. Estonia may win if we don't take/create more chances, but overall we will saunter through this group.
I agree a little ankle tweak would do nicely...hope Wenger is on the phone as we speak. Clyne should be on a half time or shortly after, but he won't.
If Roy's logic for initially leaving Chambers out of the squad was because the U21s actually have two important games this week, and playing in them would be much more beneficial (both for Chambers, and the whole England set-up) than sitting on the bench behind Stones for these two England games, then I am totally fine that. It is quite possible that he really does think that Chambers is better than Clyne (and starting him in these two games would suggest that). But that, as I say, he saw no point in having Chambers sat on the bench for two games, missing the U21s matches in the process. Stones then getting injured seemingly put a spanner into the works. But come on Roy. San Marino and Estonia? And in a qualifying set up where half of Europe will manage to qualify? I can't buy that these games are so important, that Roy has had to turn to who he thinks is the next best RB, screwing the U21s over in the process. It's not like the U21s are playing a couple of meaningless friendlies. It's a play-off to qualify for next summer's tournament. The sooner everyone, but in particular the players, start taking the U21s seriously, the better. Is Chambers better than Clyne? Is Clyne better than Chambers? Who cares. For this week, that is irrelevant. We are not playing France and Holland. Clyne is absolutely of sufficient quality to have been picked for these matches, with Chambers being allowed to remain with the U21s.
Absolutely, that is incredibly annoying, and if it does contribute to players moving, as MIsaint suggests, then doubly annoying.
remember lallana. on the bench while man utd bound zaha played. the england camp is a recruiting ground, nothing more. all the better if they can make the point by making you watch a player who has just moved to a big side play in your position.
Don't forget...Clyne would rather be there than not. Just like Fonte with Portugal and Morgan with France.
