We have made the permanent move back home and need advice with finding areas to live. We are currently staying in London and this week we are going house hunting in Hull. We know Beverley and Cottingham but have noticed the Avenues in Hull looks an interesting place with lots of stuff going on. Does anyone on here live aound there?
We both like good food, decent bars and somewhere to walk the dogs.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Are you buying or renting?

If buying - the 'Dukeries' (Welbeck/Thoresby/Clumber/Belvoir/Blenheim Streets) would be OK. Spring Bank Cemetery is nearby.

The Avenues are, obviously, more expensive - generally bigger houses, but quite a lot of flats.

After having a fairly big house in Florida we want to down size to a couple of bedrooms. We intend to buy and move there asap.

Have a look on Google Earth/Streetview. It will give you some idea of sizes of houses/gardens, together with open spaces.

If you've no family then the avenues could be what your looking for? but you don't have to live on the doorstep to enjoy princes ave and newlands! Everyone goes there but not all live there! Willerby, anlaby and hessle are equally nice places to live, it's all about what budget you have.

It all depends if you want to live the the City or a more rural area

The villages outside Hull are pleasant but you do pay a premium to live there

Iv'e lived in the Avenues for the last fifteen years, and i suppose the fact i don't want to leave is a good sign. You'll be living near to pretty much everywhere that's worth going to in Hull, especially the KC stadium :)

But yeah it is a nice place to live. Oh and welcome home pal <ok>

Give us some more info. How much is the budget? How many bedrooms? You definitely want to live in Hull and not be a turncoat and live outside and look down on us?

You have had alook on Rightmove havent you?

Looking on Rightmove / Zoopla we can afford a small place ( two up two down with a small garden ) in Cottingham and the Avenues. With regards to Beverley we would like to be in the town centre but it would be stretch our budget.

Beverley is full of bellends. Last time I went for night out there I was this close to going on a rage fueled, violent rampage. And I'm a lover not a fighter.

Chazz is right, deffo stay within the boundaries of Hull. We need all the tax payers we can get.

All the people at my college who hail from Beverley seem to have RP accents.

    Weird.

Welcome back home....moved from the Avenues to Cottingham 2yrs ago and its nice but boring as hell if u enjoy nightlife.
Still miss the Avenues as was great to have so much on my doorstep and not to forget i could walk to the KC and not have to drive freeing myself up to enjoy a pint or 5 along the way.
Id go for the Avenues if starting from scratch again in the UK.
