Bottas you heartbreaker, but he has given me hope for the race. Also, nice to see some real pace from the McLaren after all, Jenson will need some luck to get that elusive podium but it's possible.
They just showed Bottas' lap on the BBC, his first two sectors were phenomenal, and if he hadn't ran out of grip I think he'd have nail sector 3 too.
Bruno Senna has just done a side by side comparison on Sky between the laps from Bottas and Hamilton - very tight all the way round and a different approach to where they put their cars. Interesting stuff and so, so close
@LorenzoDL83: #F1 #Sochi qualify sector times chart. #Bottas fastest in S1 and highest top speed 332,6km\h Ham in S2 Ros in S3 http://t.co/WXA7UCWPoX
Bruno Senna's Skypad skills are just as bad as his driving capabillities. Get Davidson back or put Chandhok in when he can't do it.
I can't see him regaining the initiative as things stand. Will be interesting to see him versus Bottas tomorrow.
Hope Bottas can keep pace with the Mercs in the race, though has to be a worry that this tyres were shot at the end of the lap when he was matching their pace. I think reality is he is still 3 to 4 tenths a lap slower on race pace.
Rosberg has to make sure Bottas doesn't get in front off the line or his race could be ruined. Because the Williams is going to be hard to overtake on any straight"it is really fast in a straight line and Rosberg's overtaking skills are questionable So he needs to keep Bottas behind.
Vettel was really horrible though... Even though the car isn't all what it was in previous years why is he taking s long to come to grips with it? where ever he goes in 2015 if he performs like he did this year people will start to question his four titles and his ability. You can't tell me that even though the car isn't up to par Ricciardo is still doing a much better job when both car have no problems. I hope he does better next year because I really want to see a good fight between him, Hamilton, Alonso, Ricciardo and even Bottas all in different cars.
I think it was just the fact they weren't fresh tyres. Normally in quali the tyres struggle to make a second consecutive competitive lap, but here they seemed better when they were 3 or 4 laps old. Bottas was on something like his 5th lap I think, so he just ran out of tyres in the last sector.
Excellent effort today from Kyvatt in front of his home crowd. Why is their car working so much better than the RBR!?
The gp2 race looked quite scary at the start, very fast and tight into the first corner. I hope it isn't spoilt by too many safety cars tomorrow as just about anything that goes wrong on track will bring it out.
Man the race tomorrow could actually be really exciting. Kvyat and Magnussen are going to collide at turn one and then the rest of the race will be run in procession order
I expect Rosberg will do something rash at the start. I think he is to the point of getting desperate to get back into the championship lead. A few days ago he said it's all or nothing so I think he will throw caution to the wind at the start. But that could get him in lots of trouble with the team as I am sure they want to wrap up the constructors championship tomorrow. So it should be interesting, as he will be between a rock and a hard place. If he beats hamilton off the line then that would be great for him but I doubt he could keep the lead for long as hamilton seems to have the pace and better tyres to start the race on. By the way I wonder who will get the first option for the first pitstop? Hamilton's tyres only did one lap and I think Rosberg did like three on his. The fact that Hamilton usually gets his to last longer means that he can run longer on his tyres and his tyres will be in better shape..mean that I wouldn't be too surprised to see Rosberg come in first.
14 points is the magic number. That would allow the person leading to come 2nd in Abu Dhabi and be crowned champ. Tomorrow could be about who can kewp the life in their tyres. One lock up and you are in trouble according to Button. If the Mercs are battling each other they could be vulnerable to anyone who can make a one stopper work.
I was thinking the same thing. Nico is tired now it is obvious, he normally bins his performance halfway through the season, so he is in overdrive at the moment. Hamilton is used to the pressure. Bottas drives like a true future champ, and special mention to Button/Kvyat/Ericsson and Perez. Hulkenberg has backed off a lot, maybe he knows something we don't
