Interesting opinion piece in the Times.

Think the link only gives the first few lines. In short - Redknapp only happy when talking about the past or having a go at the modern footballer. He may not 'need the hassle' anymore. Fernandes seems to genuinely want to do the right thing for the club, but has no idea what this is and makes decisions on a whim - for example the contract offer to Redknapp. Dressing room no longer toxic, but has the 'odour of mediocrity'.

The players aren't fussed about playing for Redknapp. That is becoming increasingly clear imo.

Tony simply mustn't leave it till it's too late!!

If TF isn't (at the very least) currently preparing a Plan B as the alternative to Redknapp, he's not doing his duty by the club.

Harry and the team have to produce something special over the next 3 or 4 games to take the pressure off them. Liverpool, Villa, Chelsea and Man City... Just can't see it happening - hope I'm wrong - and if they fail, then BIG pressure on the chairman (not least from fellow shareholders and the syndicate behind him)

    Agreed.

The home games at least offer a chance of something perhaps.

Rolling back the clock almost 5 years - at least this guy dressed the part, got out in the technical area and barked out a few orders.

    Hartless Appointment

My club is VERY quickly turning into a laughing-stock. Yet another scandal means that we are the joke of English football. No longer are Manchester City and Newcastle United the brunt of all jokes – we are.

I started writing this post when Paul Hart was appointed and by now he’s moved on! I don’t blame the club for this one actually. You could see after 2 games that he wanted ‘effective football’ and the fans didn’t like what they saw – I’ve never seen the R’s booed off the pitch after a victory before but a combination of bizarre substitutions and tactical suicide meat Paul Hart was fighting an uphill battle.

Magilton had us playing some fantasic football but lost the dressing room. Once it’s gone, you can’t get it back. So, who next? Would any respectable manager take the ‘challenge’? I would personally like to see a proven manager, with a reputation for passing football. Alan Curbishly fits that bill but I can’t see him working with our owners – afterall, that’s what saw him leave West Ham. My money would be on a return for Gigi Di Canio in the summer.

    The drama continues…

That'd be Ecclestone giving a thumbs up to the visiting Chelsea fans

The article is more of an assassination on Fernandes rather than Redknapp and could well of been titled 'Fernandes is a joke.' Oliver Kay has chosen to use a backhanded and the subtler 'Redknapp suddenly finds the joke is on him' instead.
the paragraph below really sums the whole piece up.

'' Redknapp is by no means the cause of the culture of underperformance - playing the blame game would bring up a long list of the culpable - but he is becoming, just like everything else at Loftus Road, to be a symptom of an energy-sapping struggle. ''

    Ouch!
