I think Hendie is one of those players you don't really get to full appreciate how much he does because it is less glamorous. I think watching him week in and week out playing for Livie you get to fully appreciate how good he is- and what Roddie sees in him. He's not a glamour player- it's the hard work and functional ability rather than showy steps. I haven't seen enough of Herrie to judge him yet.
So, Milkie, I'd be interested on your thoughts on Michael Carrick. I'd say you've pretty much nailed most United fans thoughts on him. Livie fans always suffixed Carrick with when their own midfield was so awesome. (Which is always of course)
Dont think so, Carrick wasnt even being called up before injury was he? And anyway, who the **** cares. We like Henderson you dont so what!
Best midfield in the world............ When we get Allen back (who would walk into your midfield with 1 leg tied behind his back)
Was trying to think of an appropriate description for Liverpool's midfield, and i kept coming back to the same word ****e
I knew you'd see the light Thats what I shouted during an op today when it all went wrong How original, well done, top top input there, boringly amazing, honest
Henderson is a vrey good player, maybe around the Lucas standard (before his injury). He is much like Carricin the fact he will never get headlines because of the type of job he does but is well worth his place in your team. I think if you have the mental and physical fortitude to watch a couple of our games as a football supporter watching a game purely for football you will find Herrera is probably our most consistant and important performer at the moment. I am very impressed with him, not only can he make a killer pass and dribble a bit, he has a knack of going into 50/50 challenges and managing to touch the ball to one of our players in space, he also has a very impressive interception rate.
If you get Can/Lucas, Allen and Henderson in there you will have a decent Premier League midfield, nothing special but adequate
You are probably right. The real funny/weird thing is that the man who has been the mainstay of a midfield that has won 5 out of the last 8 Premier League titles never seems to get a place in the England team, but then, England never seem to do very well anyway.
Who's Carricin? He sounds foreign. We should sign him! Matth, start a thread immediately based on the rumour Diego has started in this thread.
Aye, the classic England mistake of playing big names rather than players who actually fit together. Hodgson is doing it again - trying to shoehorn Wilshere into the CDM role which he is blatantly not suited for just to try and fit inferior midfielders in in front of him. Gerrard and Lampard are the prime examples of this - when their club sides were doing well neither of them got a game at CM, but were then expected to play well together in that position for England, whilst players doing a great job at CM like Scholes, Carrick and Hargreaves were regularly overlooked. Just gotta hope it doesn't happen again (or don't care if it does depending on your views on Engerland). I think a CM pairing of Carrick and Wilshere (or even Barry and Wilshere) would be better balanced and more effective against good sides than Henderson and Wilshere, regardless of the argued quality of the individual players, as Carrick and Barry would complement Wilshere more. But doubt Hodgson will ever have the stones to pull that off.
