    Will be named 1week before the game against Arsenal (according to SSN)
    Obviously his candidates will be given the friendlies to put themselves forwad and impress the boss for the job.

    I personally hope it gets given to Steven Taylor!

    Thoughts?

    Colo for me! Would have said Barton but with the uncertainty over his future I'd say Coloccini.

    Not sure that we really have anybody who fits my idea of true captain material at the moment.

    Difficult decision for Pardew. I'm sure though that seeing them in training every day and in the dressing room he will see who the best man for the job is and appoint accordingly.

    If I had to pick somebody I would probably go for Colo but I wouldn't be very confident with my decision.

    That is true but he may be a bit too outspoken to represent a football club as a permanent captain.

    But his worst games for us were while he was captain, let him concentrate on getting the ball in the box/goal

    Colo would be too quiet though, we don't really have anyone in the squad who will speak-up like Joey and maybes Saylor.

    God it's not too much to think about, it's not like rugby or cricket where he actually has to do extra stuff and think about tactics

    I love Barton but would prefer him to continue as Vice Captain.

    Well he spent most of his time worrying about arguing with the ref so obviously it is too much for him to think about

    prehaps we just need to tell him that. There's bound to be a learning curve so hopefully those few games he was captain will benefit him in the long run if he is made permenant

    I usually prefer the captain to be in the middle of the pitch as they have a greater view of things happening on the pitch and can get involved more.

    I don't see Barton as the captain though given recent events so I'd say it should go to Stevie Taylor.

    Tbf, Barton is arguing with someone nearly every game, but he plays well in most, and to state he plays poor when he's captain is stupid.
