Please don't take this the wrong way but may I ask where you get this information on the inner workings of the club?
So Redknapp, while manager, was also in charge of club finances was he? And thus to blame for Pompey's financial meltdown? Nothing to do with the club/ business being poorly run by owners who sanctioned moves with money they clearly didn't have? ""
It is difficult to have a debate on whether our signings are effective unless we define what we mean by effective. The examples from Comolli's time and Harry's time are very different in style and I think it is instructive to look at the pros and cons of the two approaches.
News Now carries a suggestion of five players we should go for in January, nothing new except Ayew, hmmmmmmmmm!
I believe it was Spurcat who mentioned the situation with Jol having to go above Comolli's head to sign Berbatov back on Old606 (if it wasn't...whoops!), while it's hardly inside knowledge that Levy was the mover and shaker in the Modric deal as numerous photos of him in Croatia meeting with Modric and his advisors were published in the media.
Quite literally looks like the American Kyle Walker then - Uses his blistering pace to make up for poor decisions/ positioning.
Nice to see at least one of our players picking up a trophy: Additional bonuses for Dempsey, Destroyer of the Mancs, being on the winning side and scoring, plus someone called Wenger playing for the opposition. Having the player that scored Birmingham's winner against the Goons in the Carling Cup Final on the scoresheet is also a plus. From what I've seen of Yedlin, he's quick, gets forward a lot, puts in some dangerous balls and is happy to cover a lot of ground. He's defensively suspect and a hipster, though. Needs to come over in January and go to another Premier League side on loan, preferably one that uses a similar system to us and can sort out his lapses.
We don't own Dempsey either, or have I missed the point? Aah yes I did - you meant Yedlin I assumed the comment was about Dempsey.
f** 'em. Hope Madrid get relegated or hit with some sort of FFP fine or just simply go bust. Not bitter at all though.
Bit of a late one, to say the least, but Bild are reporting that Holtby's loan at Hamburg has been made permanent for €6.5m, so that's a little over £5m. It's a profit, as we paid virtually nothing for him, but he's worth more than that, in my opinion.
I've seen it reported today that Milan are after Solda-doh. I'm sure that Levy would love to get rid of him, but I doubt that Milan will offer anything like the kind of cash that Levy would be prepared to let him go for, even though whatever little Milan do offer will still be twice what the useless ****er is worth.
Even more so because Holtby is our cover at no. 10, whereas Paulinho is a player without a defined role in the Spurs team for a very good reason. I guess Chadli or Lamela might play inside if need be, or perhaps Dembele there. We probably can't find a buyer for the Brazilian to be fair. Up to last summer his saving grace was that he was in the Brazilian national team and now we don't even have that selling point for Levy to work with.
Someone else who thinks that Levy decides what players are worth? Surely the DoF/Manager/Scouts decide that and Levy just leads the important negotiations? We should sell Soldado if anyome offere more than what we think he is worth now, same as any player. What we paid is irrelevant except in the sense that we must have thought he was worth more than that at the time we signed him.
