"He's unbelievable" - QPR defender believes this midfield star has what they need Olly Dawes Profile Pic Olly Dawes 10 hours ago QPR defender Steven Caulker believes Adel Taarabt can help the club achieve survival. #454259410 / gettyimages.com Queens Park Rangers returned to the Premier League the hard way in May, winning the play-off final against Derby County having missed out on automatic promotion despite Harry Redknapp having an expensive squad at his disposal in the second tier. Despite signing the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Mauricio Isla, Leroy Fer, Jordon Mutch, Sandro and Eduardo Vargas, QPR have struggled massively so far this season. With four points from their opening seven games, Redknapp's men have won just one and only scored four goals - Burnley are the only team to score fewer goals in the Premier League this season. Sunday's 2-0 defeat at West Ham United leaves QPR rooted to the bottom of the table, but another new signing, Steven Caulker, predicts that the return of talented playmaker Adel Taarabt will be a huge boost the R's in their bid to win games and achieve Premier League survival. "Adel is unbelievable and if we get him fit, which Iâm sure he will be over the next few weeks, then he is a massive asset to the club and to the team," said Caulker. "If we can get him fit he will add a lot of sparks to our play because he wants the ball, he is great on the ball, he can get a shot off." "He can link the play up and he can put strikers in, which is what we need. We are not creating enough so hopefully he can add to that." Taarabt, 25, hit a stunning 19 goals as Rangers achieved promotion back in 2011, but has had a frustrating time at Loftus Road ever since. The Moroccan spent the first half of last season on loan at Fulham and the second half at AC Milan before returning to West London this summer. Manager Redknapp has been frustrated with Taarabt's fitness, and getting him back to peak condition could take some time, but with QPR desperate for an attacking spark, it surely wouldn't hurt to get Taarabt back in the side.
I do wish the players would just shut up talking this sh*te and go out and win a bloody game. They can blow each other off all they want when they're winning.
Strangely enough, you dont hear winning sides "blowing each other off", as they do their talking on the pitch. "QPR desperate for an attacking spark" ?? QPR are desperate for all players to show their hooped shirts and supporters a bit of respect, and put a shift in on the pitch.
What Swords and KPD unsurprisingly are missing is that Caulker is saying to win games we need Adel. Caulker wants to win games and this public plea is his way of helping us achieve that. Charlie did the exact same thing pre season. The Anti-Adel mob must be hating this and I didn't expect to be proved right about this so early in the season but we need him. We added zero creativity over the summer to a team that struggled to score in the championship and shock... we're struggling to score this year!! All the anti-Adel said we need him out the club to protect team spirit. Again didn't expect to be proved right so early in the season but a team that keeps on losing with no belief that they can win games because they can't score goals will have even less team spirit and confidence will deflate like a like tyre with a puncture. Penny even seems to be dropping with Harry, Adel is class and we need him to save us. Just a shame we gave him didn't stand firm last year and refuse loans and demand money. He's had a taster of the big stage and thrived and understandably wants to go back there. He cares more for this club more than all the players expect Hill. He's been disrespected by many of the fans, some of the players and the current manager but I'm hopeful that he will give his all on the pitch till Jan at least (if Harry let's him). From there we might have a fighting chance We're lucky Tony stood firm and didn't give in to the anti-adel mob on message boards, twitter and facebook and kept him rather than bombing him out for nothing. So we're luvky to still have some hope
Im not anti Adel as you put it, far from it but how can you say he cares for the club more than anyone other than Hill. He has been wanting away since 2011. I was in agreement with you until you said that...nonsense
Damage stop talking through your Aris. Every single person on here - including Queens - knows the potential Taarabt has and what way he can play when he feels like it but that hasn't been worth a toss to us for 3 years and here we are again with him overweight and not fit to play.............surprise surprise. Tell me, would you have played him this season even though he has more bellies than Mike Ashley? Speaking of talking through one's bunghole, I noticed you never commented on this thread the other day http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/180726-Redknapp-Outing-the-Doubters/page7
Leaving aside the pro or anti debate, Liverpool at home might just be the sort of game that Adel would rise to. A win against them with the resulting confidence would be huge for the club this season as it was when we famously beat them 3:2 in the dying minutes of 'that' game. Crickey, almost getting excited again!!
Damage, to think 1 player, no matter how good can rescue us, is frankly delusional. We need an entire squad and management to pull together, and show some desire and commitment. I would love nothing more than Adel wearing hoops and playing to his potential, but there in is the enigma, that is Adel. You refer to me as an "anti-Adel", not anti at all, just deeply frustrated that he has only performed for us for 1 glorious season, after that it has been .... well, didly-squat.
He was brilliant for us for 1 glorious season and set a very high standard after that. He never reached that level in the Premiership but I think he did alright given the crap that was going on all around him.
Funnily enough it could literally only take one great performance at home to Liverpool to turn the season around. I just can't help feeling it is not very likely. No harm in hoping and doing our bit though on the day.
Oh yeah, right, not of his making and he was always the professional footballer doing his talking on the pitch ???
I love the guy, hope he plays etc but I must admit that each one of these threads is like digging up a time capsule from the Blue Peter garden even though you still remember the contents when they went in the ground.
In support of my previous comments. People wanted him out, but now we need him. He'll will add what we've been missing; creativity, positivity and class. I'm confident Austin will score plenty of given the service. Let's revert to the only successful system we've had in 20 years. Adel in the hole. Austin in Heidar's role. Then Barton and Sandro do the Derry and Faurlin role Give him game time is the best way to get him fit. So let's play him
Agree with Steven, Peter and Abu. We need him, by far our best attacking midfield player in decades, and ignored mostly by our last 2 tossr Managers. But can we borrow that Mackie bloke for this one, he did all right last time...
? He played 27 league games in 2011-12 (missed a few after Warnock dropped him after his performances against Spurs and Fulham away and for ACON - ran away early with Traore if I remember correctly) and 31 games in 2012-13. Obviously Redknapp shipped him out last year, but I don't think Hughes ignored him at all. I hope he gets to play because he's fun to watch, but he has had plenty of pitch time at premiership level already.
I think it's as much an indication of our recent plights - pick him, drop him and then pick him when things dry up in front of goal. I think Warnock (in the Premiership) and Hughes both did this (I may get proven wrong here). It looks like the good ship Redknapp is heading that way now.
