Dorset Echo Breaking news Football: Tough home draws for Magpies and Terras DORCHESTER Town and Weymouth have both been handed tough home ties against Vanarama Conference duo Bristol Rovers and Braintree respectively in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup. In Bristol Rovers, the Magpies face a side who were only relegated from the Football League last season and currently sit 5th in the Conference. Police have warned residents of Dorchester to be on their guard during the visit from the 'Pirates' of North Bristol. PCSO Dave Hill, who will be part of the operation told the Dorset Echo 'Families like to enjoy the football without feeling intimidated or threatened so itâs important we undertake operations like this, It is the second time police have increased patrols in the area after a similar blitz on drunks in August 2001 when Bristol Rovers played in a pre-season friendly, which resulted in eight arrests, 22 dispersal orders handed out by police and 60 street drinkers moved on. We have introduced it again because we have noticed a rise in street drinkers, horse punching, racist taunts, steward beating and the amount of Rovers fans sleeping rough so we are doing these patrols to target that, âItâs not just arresting them or moving them on, we can signpost them to the relevant agencies because a lot of them need support. The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth, Devon are top of the list of agencies that are willing to help out. For the Terras, meanwhile, their clash with Braintree is a repeat of the meeting between the two clubs at the same stage of the competition last term. Braintree, 14th in the Conference, won 2-1 on that occasion. The matches will take place a week on Saturday (October 25) with £2,500 and a place in the draw for the first round proper on offer to the winners.
