Eccleston 2:30 York No price yet? Both Bluesky9 & myself put this horse up the last day at Sandown when it got hampered & didn't get a run until the last 1/2 furlong! Racing Post Comments "Held up in midfield, short of room and shuffled back towards rear 3f out, switching left to find a run from 1f out, stayed on well final 75yds, never troubled leaders" That was his 1st run in Class 3 (0-95) H'cap, been mainly campaigned in Class2, gets in here off top weight 9-7 as he is rated 95, from the David O'meara barn who's sprinters are in terrific form, Eccleston will relish the soft underfoot conditions, he has a middle draw in 10 so should be able to tuck in behind the pace. In my opinion this horse is open to any amount of improvement! Well backed LTO 14/1 into 7/1, I advise you to get on early door's before the price collapses? It might open up at a silly price I would be happy with 6/1+? I had my largest punt of the season on Eccleston Each/Way the last day when he scraped into the frame & I'm doubling up this time! Good Luck!
Taquin Du Seuil has to give Colour Squadron 16lbs tomorrow. Can he do it? Must he do it to be a live GC candidate?
Can't be having TDS tomorrow at all have backed him for the Betfair KG and CGC but won't be tomororw as Barney will surely agree Newton Abbot is a tricky tight course not a course tht TDS will like he wants long galloping tracks no bet but wouldn't surprise to see Wonderful Charm to run a big race
Colour Squadron rated 152 so if TDS were to beat him 2 lengths that would put TDS around 170 which is getting towards Gold Cup winning territory. Should be a cracking little race but with all 5 making their seasonal reappearances so the form may not stack up through the season. TDS has a good record when fresh so I will take him to prevail tomorrow. There really should be more of these races on the fixture list - many 2nd season chasers have literally nowhere to run outside handicaps.
In the 20.20 at Wolverhampton Gentlemusic appeals at what should be decent ew odds. Beaten 7l by Fadhayyil on début and that horse went on to go down by 1l in a G2 to Lucida who was coming off a nk defeat by Cursory Glance in a G1. Now in a Class 6 race and appears unfancied; seems odd to me.
GM Hopkins @ York - won really well last time, 9lb rise but is group class Single and a ew double whit yours attivo Also high secret will win at Wolverhampton but will be short
Wolverhampton 5.45 I was going for Rocket Rob but it's a NR. Surely Baby Strange can win this, can't he?
Cracking little race that. None of you give Double Ross a chance? Nige always has them ready for the early season. Can see him making the running and hopefully lasting home in front.
Wouldn't write any of the 5 off hawkeye, as you say it is a really nice race. I'm amazed there aren't more of these intermediate chases throughout the season
Looking forward to seeing the big brute that is Little Jon in the 2.50 at Newton Abbot. Doubt that he will make the frame tomorrow but chasing should be his game and his run in the Imperial Cup set him out as one to follow over fences. In the intermediate chase (what a good race it is) Colour Squadron has to have a brilliant chance at a course that doesn't punish bad jumping as much as some of the grade 1 tracks. I think he will take a lot of beating. Some good racing over jumps!!
Longsdon (knowslessthanme) takes four to Carlisle tomorrow. He loves this meeting, I think they treat him like Southern Royalty, and he has targeted a very strong team just as he did last year.
Hope you had a good day at the races yesterday stick - I trust the Guiness was cold enough? Lovely run by your mare - make sure you put Charlie straight on where to run her next #wetbehindtheears
Oddy this is a cracking little race but I certainly don't want to see more of these races.Tomorrows one has turned out to be competitive but so often they don't. 10% of Irish jump races this season will be Graded..that to my mind is completely crazy. Second season 'chasers are soooo well treated by the old h'capper these days (as the Hennessy roll of honour shows) that I think they should be sent over the top asap!! Like these bloody graduates having a year out before getting a job! ..wouldn't have happened 22 years ago #justjealous.
Ah yes the infamous gap year. When I was I student I spent Easter and Summer holidays labouring on the local steelworks ..................... at least shovelling slag around taught me the value of money and having the dignity of knowing you'd earned it
Gm should eat the field EMERAHLDZ should not be ew friendly weighted very nice and conditions wont bother
