To be fair, from 2008 to early 2011 before Fletcher got really ill he was one of the best CMs in the PL. If Henderson reaches his level then he will one of the same, but he still has a way to go to reach that level. Tho' Fletch was slated as being average back when he was younger, so Henderson is following a similar career track thus far.

Chief's comparison to Carrick is probably fair, close in quality but Henderson has energy where Carrick has vision and anticipation. Neither are the most spectacular of players, but both have a job to do and do it very well. The question for Liverpool has to be whether Henderson will every grow past being a player who just plays a role for the team, and become one who actually runs games from the middle of the park.

The most I can see him achieving is a good team player. I cannot see him being a leader as in the keane/Viera model running the game.

These are the signs we are seeing at the moment, he even had the stones to rip into Gerrard in the last game for a mistake.

    Who is this we Luv?

Because if it's the not606 Liverpool board then they are also seeing Manquillo (who!!!!!), Lovren and the other Spanish no body as world class defenders.

    :D

Lost of arguments to be had there pop over and discuss.

All 3 are good players but also need to improve at this moment.

The full backs are great going forward but at times naive at the back that's down to their age imo. Lovren is in need of a partner and we simply don't have one I don't rate any of our other center backs.

FFS don't share that view with your fellow Liverpool posters. Both of them are older than Shaw and he's been written off as ****e already (although I'm sure he got a lot of praise last season).

I'd rather have Carrick than Henderson.

Shaw is a good player, yes you paid over the odds but at his age at least there's value there as you could get 10 years out of him.

Maybe he just prefers Carrick's hair?

With Henderson's gait I reckon he could only last a couple of minutes before Matth broke his arse anyway.

After last nights game Henderson should not be putting on an England shirt, he was dire, more bad passes than the San Marino team combined.

Can any player be judged on how they perform for England though?

You could probably name on one hand the players who have consistently matched club form with England form in the last 10 years. A Cole......errr.......

Well the current England manager doesn't, and he knows a bit more about football than you or 'most United fans'.

    No ****....
Thats because a lot of football fans are biased towards their team, in a ******ed fashion (ie you).
    Some are sensible though.

All this International talk about Henderson is going off topic, and is a bit like "My dad's car is better than your dads"

Henderson would not walk into United squad, nor would he walk into Arsenal, Chelsea or city. And for one simple reason, he aint good enough, simple as that

    Arsenals midfield - definitely not
    Chelseas - Noooo!
    City - Nope!

United though........Herrera has shown me nothing to put him above Henderson to be honest. Both average so far, difference is I have seen Henderson have 1 or 2 great performances so I would place him above Herrera.

You've said it. You've seen one or two "great" performances out of Henderson. That player has been around for 2-3 years in that team and Herrera has just joined United and now off injured.

That doesn't seem to be a very solid reason to choose Henderson over Herrera, does it?

Yet again you advertise the fact that you have no idea what you're watching. You're clueless.
