Who would you put him in ahead of them? Blind, Herrera or Di Maria? Btw, this could be the first time since 2011 that we are debating how to fit three Man Utd players and one Liverpool player into the same midfield! Just shows what a #decline you lot are in
He's easily ahead of Blind and Herrera at this point they haven't exactly been brilliant Di Maria is an attacking midfielder but if you want to insist on the comparison Di Maria is easily the better player.
Disagree on Blind - he is doing a very disciplined defensive job that I doubt Henderson could play at this stage in his career. I'd give you Herrera at this stage, although his season has barely gotten started due to injuries, and he's already gotten two goals and an assist in less than four full games so I think he will easily turn out to be as good as Henderson in the same role once he has a good run in the team. But like I said - must be galling for Liverpool fans that you now only have one player who would get into Utd's formerly 'terrible' midfield
I suppose you have to look at the type pf player and the job that player does. Henderson is box to box and his primary role seems to be to create and get behind the midfield and Blind is in there to protect the defence. As always with rival fans we tend to disagree on a players attributes but with 3 assists and a goal so far Henderson has clearly improved.
You wouldn't know irony if it slapped you around the face with a dead fish now **** off, adults are talking.
The change from last season is there for all to see if they want to see. Last season we were struggling to get one of our players into one of the top teams. This season, we can easily get our top attacking players into their teams. And we would only take one or two to definitely improve our attack. The defence is being rebuilt and with due respect to Evans, Smalling and Jones, we need a top quality commanding CB. I said we needed to change most of the squad and LVG is doing just that (even SAF now realise it was folly to get someone to continue with his squad). I believe the RS are experiencing (to a lesser extent) the same effects of someone influential leaving. Just like SAF made every player look better in his system, the rat just masked every player's deficeincies. Take Stevie Me. Last season the rat gave him the space he needed and the outlet for his long passes. The rat's instant control made Stevie look good. Henderson did look good with the rat. Now in the midfield he looks very much like the water carrier (like a certain Cantona would say). And he is only stands out because Stevie is so poor and so much in decline (I cannot believe that Brenda will keep playing him in every match).
I agree with the first part of that but the water carrier term for Henderson is just not correct, yes he puts the work in but his creativity and goal threat would suggest he is more than that.
Everyone tends to overate the players in their own team. But in terms of the premier league, Henderson's been playing very well for around 2 years at Liverpool and has had a solid start to the season. Blind and Herrera have done next to nothing in the P.L. Henderson would surely get in the United midfield atm. The fact United are above Liverpool is a red herring until United have played a few more of the big sides. On paper, United's opening 7 games should have seen them pretty much top.
Have to agree with my fellow chelsea fan. As much as i hate the RS and however much i wanted Henderson to be a flop (of which he was), he has been immense the last year and a half and i actually think he's one of the RS more important players. Great engine, end product isnt bad and seems to be everywhere on the pitch.
Each to his own. I wouldn't want Henderson instead of Blind and Herrera although they haven't settled 100%. There is no doubt that United have not even performed at 50% of their potential yet. So easy fixtures list is not that easy when the team is not performing. When United get the supposedly more difficult ones, hopefully they will have improved.
For me the fact that a donkey like Henderson stands out as good really confirms how low the rest of the team has sunk.
I think Henderson is ok, nothing standout but steady enough. Inoffensive but certainly NOT brilliant by any stretch. Used to love it when Liverpool fans slated Carrick as being the same, they still do no doubt. There's a major difference in the two though of course and I'd stake my house that Henderson will never achieve anywhere near what Carrick has.
