Gutted for Ozil, but this might be a blessing in disguise. He hadn't been playing anywhere near to his potential recently, but being such a big name it's hard to drop him. So this forces the issue.

As mentioned already Cazorla is in good form and his preferred position has always been through the middle. I think it's an ideal opportunity to play him there and I agree with the front line of Oxo/Walcott Welbeck and Sanchez

Luckily this time I think it was German doctors who said it. If it was at Arsenal he'd probably be out for 3-4 weeks...

There is something seriously wrong at this club, all these injuries aren't just bad luck or coincidence, something is very very wrong with the way we're training them or whatever the **** we're doing to these players.

Time for Cazorla to shine, time for Ozil to recover and Wenger now has to play wingers on the wing - a revelation!! Big shame for Ozil tho, this was his big season really.

As well as Cazorla, I think it's time for the OX to also shine. I think he now has the chance to be a regular. Walcott might come back, after a long injury, it will take him some time before he starts regularly. The OX has massive potential and with regular game time, he can go to that next level. I thought he was seriously unlucky to be dropped for the game against the Chavs.

From something bad, good can come from it. Ramsey got injured and this allowed Wilshere game time, so far he is improving. Giroud, Walcott and now Ozil go out injured and it gives OXO, Cazorla and Welbeck a chance. Time to step up and be counted for these guys, what an opportunity.

I wrote a 'year of the Ox' thread in pre season, as I think he's due for a big season. He's shown that he's got power, pace, technical skill, ability to go past player and pull defences out of position and he can shoot. Also he's been doing it regularly when he's started. I agree that was unlucky not to start against the Chavs, especially because Ozil offered practically sweet FA out there. Cazorla had a good game (bad decision to sub him) and he and Ox would have linked up well. Let's hope we see this combo in games to come <ok>

Got to be something wrong with training regimen. I've been saying this for years. RvP commented that when he moved to Utd the coaches there set him to do more gym work to bulk up to give protection against injuries. Wenger's fabled stubborness shows in his choice of backroom staff too - SAF was famous for adopting new ideas and methods, AW seems to like to stick with what he knows.

I bet Fabregas is having a quiet chuckle to himself.

PS Sanogo being injured is not a bad thing ..

It sucks that Ozil is out for so long - he is one of the best #10s in the world, we just haven't seen him played there properly. As for the training regime, there's quotes from RvP that he put on loads of muscle when he'd moved to Man Utd but got fitter and faster for it. Wenger doesn't seem to like resistance training, preferring light players. That will result in more injuries. Resistance training is a KEY part of being an athlete these days - just ask Bear.

It is truly remarkable , and speaks volumes in itself , that people even consider that Wengers signature signing , £42 million quid , getting injured may be a blessing in disguise in that Wenger will HAVE to maybe play players in their correct positions now.

Is that all it takes ?

    a major injury crisis .

He should be doing that anyway .

    Shouldnt he ?

    Is it me ?

Cini, if u read back there's plenty of people saying that ozils injury is/could be a blessing in disguise, or that it could be a good thing for one reason or another. Even Not PC Enough indicates this as well

That's not really cheering though is it... more trying to find positives from a negative. I thought that was what a lot of posters were trying to do all round with our entire football club?

You do know that Piskie (not having a go) was the man in this thread that said it would be a blessing in disguise? Not that he actually meant it that way but I haven't come across any posters that said that Ozil's injury or anyone else's this season, would be a good thing. But saying that, sometimes bad things can result from good things and it will give Cazorla and Wilshere an opportunity to step up and prove themselves.

On a side note, we shouldn't be afraid to drop a player to the bench if he isn't on form, whether that is Ozil or Sanchez. We have enough depth at the moment to mix it up a little.

Imagine if i had said it could be a blessing in disguise and not Piskie.

Some might have said i "came across " as being happy about our player getting injured.

    <whistle>

NO ONE , including Piskie , is happy about it.

Its the last thing we need.

A further weakening of an already thin squad is a real bastard .

I didn't name anyone in particular - or say that anyone was cheering - just indicating that some people might start, for various reasons - some good, some bad, some (like Cini is saying) to see the positives in a bad situation.

My point in the post was that people may say things along the lines of 'Now Ozil's out, we may play players in their proper positions" or "He's been out of form, so now's a chance for X to shine" - but I asked what happens next time we play badly, will we blame Cazorla for not being as good as Ozil, or Oxo for not being a 'proper' CM.

I just meant that we always seem to need a scapegoat - and recently we've been lumping a lot of stick on Ozil, and now he's out of the picture, I'm sure someone else will get the stick instead...
