Both ex Utd players have a book out at the moment. So in a veiled attempt to bring some light heartedness to the board in these grim times, here's an excerpt from Keane's book that made me grin. âI rang Mark Hughes. Robbie [Savage] wasnât in the Blackburn team and I asked Mark if we could try to arrange a deal. Sparky said: âYeah, yeah, heâs lost his way here but he could still do a job for you.â Robbieâs legs were going a bit but I thought he might come up to us [at Sunderland], with his long hair, and give us a lift â the way Yorkie [Dwight Yorke] had, a big personality in the dressing room. Sparky gave me permission to give him a call. So I got Robbieâs mobile number and rang him. It went to his voicemail: âHi, itâs Robbie â whazzup!â like the Budweiser ad. I never called him back. I thought: âI canât be ****ing signing that.ââ Out of the two books I think I'd rather read Keane's. Although I'm not too keen on Keane or Rio for that matter. You can read some more of his insights as a player and a manager in this article... http://www.theguardian.com/football...-abba-robbie-savage-ellis-short-pablo-counago
Good lord! I've just seen that Harry's got a new book out....again. No wonder no ones concentrating at Rangers. Everyone's more interested in their bloody books. Who next? Blackie? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...tml?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490
From the Redknapp article: On retirement... ‘What else would I do (apart from manage)? I play a bit of golf. I’m useless around the house. I don’t have any hobbies. I just love the game. You get older quicker without it and, when you win, there is nothing like it.’ Tell you what H, why not try and win a couple of games, you might live longer.
Honest to god Roy Keane loves himself more than Kanye West loves himself. He is a thug and should have gone to jail for what he did to that City player.
I agree. I know that myself and a few others are not too keen on Barton. Whatever Barton did doesn't even come close to what Keane did that day.
I wouldn't be keen on either of them. Both of them trying to cash in on the fact that they are ex-ManU players and get a bit of extra cash.
I am drawn to players like Keane who you can count on to give it his all. I only wish we had more of his type in the team at present. It's why I would favour Dunne or Hill over Rio (if Onouha is to play at right back).
Hmmm, not so sure Ninesy Weird voiceover and not in the slightest bit funny.
haha that's great nines....if that was happening at qpr now (maybe it is!!!!), everyone would put having c 0ck contests down to the current bad form, not having a book out, which incidentally I don't have a problem with. Don't think it makes a blind bit of difference if Rio has a book out or not imo.
Hoddle concentrates on writing for the newspapers. Joey's doing a philosophy degree. Harry, Sir Les and Rio more than one eye on the media and literary world... Bunch of part-timers
Actually Steve Black has written (well, had ghosted) his autobiography. You can order it from his website, strangely on the "Consultancy" page. He still hasn't added us to his recent client list or included fawning quotes from Barton or Redknapp. I wonder why? http://www.steveblack.co.uk/ On closer inspection it looks like he hasn't updated his page since 2010. Too busy instilling a 'can do' 'we can't be beaten' 'find a f**ing way' approach in his clients, probably. His box of tricks was sadly used up pretty quickly with our mob. I can picture them standing in a circle as he exhorts them with motivational soundbites, Hoddle confuses them with formations and spiritualism, Redknapp gazes into the middle distance, Jordan counts his teeth and Bond scribbles in his notebook. Barton is muttering misunderstood bits of "Beyond Good and Evil" whilst gently giving a youth player a Chinese burn. Adel sneakily scoffs another doughnut (halal) and Traore sniggers. Hopefully soon Les will bound over and yell "Just what the f** is going on here?"
Loads of ordinary people doing ordinary jobs, do other things away from their jobs....does that make THEM part timers?
It does if it takes their focus from their main role. Hoddle, Redknapp and Ferdinand in particular have differing priorities and apparently, QPR comes someway down the list. Not acceptable on the huge wages they're on.
Really? Is that straight from the horses mouth/inside info? Or is that just guessing? How do you know for sure that is the case? If that's really true, I agree not acceptable.
How important do you think QPR is to Hoddle? Rio's filling in a year before he goes on to better things. I dare say Redknapp's having to drag his attention away from his media and literary interests this week after the WestHam debacle
