Once again we come to the 'big table' and find we don't have the skills to sit comfortably with the elite. Our leaders promise us incredible feasts, wonderous desserts - all spoilt by our inability to sit with the other elitist diners that surround us. We strut around the table, trying to get anyone to look at us, with our posh suits and expensive shoes like the Emperor in his new clothes. All looking at us as we make fools of ourselves, stumbling with our skills while wanting to get it right; watching on as our leaders keep telling us to improve ourselves and we'll get it right as we look on as bottom rung rich kids.
Not strictly true as Car Giant were planning their development years ago. The link below is to a proposal they submitted in 2011 found by Macmoish on QPR Report http://www.lbhf.gov.uk/Images/Issue 10 - 482557 Cargiant Ltd_tcm21-158593.pdf
Here's how another QPR fan feels about the club. It echoes how many of us feel on here at the moment. He's name is Jawad and he's a teacher. Falling out of love..... There was a time when my life revolved around QPR. Plans were made depending on when we were playing and where we were playing. I've missed family occasions to attend games, I've rushed from Parents Evening so I didn't miss QPR vs Coventry, I used to wear a black shirt on a Monday morning if we lost; I could go on and on. QPR was my life. But things have changed. I didn't go to West Ham on Sunday- it's the first away London Derby I've missed in 4 years and only the second in the past 7 or 8 years. It wasn't even tempting to get a ticket (Sky or no Sky). Watching it on Sky on Sunday afternoon, I actually fell asleep it was that boring. The club I love has changed dramatically over the past few seasons. There have been many times when I (and many others) have become disillusioned with the club, the players and the owners. However, you always had hope that it was only going to be temporary. This feels different altogether. In my eyes, there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe it is the way of Modern Football. Maybe fans of other clubs feel like this. But right now, I feel nothing towards QPR. Read the rest here........ http://loveqprlovefootball.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10/falling-out-of-love.html?m=1
That's an excellent piece. If it wasn't for the fact that I go with my lad, I may start to wonder whether it's worth it tbh.
Well, on the one hand, I have huge doubts about the wisdom of buying an ST this year, and am largely bored with the football........ .......on the other (on the occasions I do turn up) I have the great pleasure of sitting with Roller and Beth, the Brains Trust at half time, the odd pre match pint. The dry humour, the hug from the big bloke in the green and white hoops who sits next to Roller when we score, the endless hope that maybe this time........every match is a new start. Perhaps we have hit the bottom, and our inevitable rise starts now........so what if I feel no attachment to the players, management or owners - it's still my club, our shirt. And by some miracle we are in the top division. I know, just words, but if the fans join this downward spiral en masse we really are doomed, if apathy sets in the next time the buckets go round there will be no one to fill them.
That's a good post mate. 'I'm promoting you in the field.' You're now officially this board's 'Morale Officer.'
When we were happy........ http://www.youtube.com/watch?annota...&feature=iv&src_vid=vpmvyu2VSfU&v=-1DeLmPSXGs
It is actually nice to read such similar thoughts from others on the board who clearly have the same perceptions and understanding as myself. A lot of us dont actually take to the boards and social media to vent off after the games, but feel the need to read and take in other fans thoughts and feelings. This really is a special club, closer to our hearts than any real football fan we tell ourselves, but at the end of the day the majority are no different to us. They all feel the pain and celebrate the magic days just like us, we just seem to have a lot more seasons at the minute where we experience either or. I hope for the sake of the club it does wake up and smell the roses, because there are a lot of fans that have made comments and changed perspective, not only to this thread but too many others of late also, and you can see the bewilderment and betrayal our club is currently putting us through, having a serious longer lasting effect on our core fan base than what the current owners might speculate as a temporary revolt against the club. If QPR loses its identity it doesnt really have much left to offer those die hard fans that a majority of us fall into that category, and the younger generations of our time and the future will never support in numbers a club unable to sustain itself in the lower echelons of league/non league football. The next few months will inevitably show us what Tony Fernandes and the Board really know about Football and of Queens Park Rangers Football Club. I only hope that the right decisions for now and the future of this great club, are taken seriously and with respect for the fans and the club itself, and not just another gimmick that makes the country despise us more and laugh at us again whilst we chuck another 50 Million plus on the never ending bonfire we seem to have started.
Well that certainly cheered me up Belfast - back in the good old days of entertainment & winning matches:-
