I think all public sector workers should be paid based on performance and against worldwide averages. That would put our teachers 20th in the world(South Korea and Estonia being just two countries that achieve better results), coppers and fireman would do okay, doctors and nurses would be a bit screwed, as we only have two hospitals in the UK the come in the world top 100, the Institute of Cancer Research Royal Cancer Hospital(58th) and Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital NHS(100th) and our council workers would probably have to pay us.
Facts (approximate numbers) there are 14,000,000 tax payers in this country. 6,000,000 work in the Public sector 8,000,000 work in the Private sector The 8,000,000 are not only paying the tax to keep the unemployed they also pay the waged of a top heavy public sector AND there final salary pensions that SOME can draw at 55 years of age. I've nothing against people working in the public sector BUT it's entirely unsustainable. End of. Sorry if this upsets anyone, I'm only quoting figures I read in a paper the other month!
Strange you would form that opinion of my position. The only comment I've made regarding my opinion on government policy has been in relation to the foreign aid, and I said I disagreed with the government on it. If you can work out what my actual political beliefs are from my posts on this thread I'll be quite impressed. For the most part I've been working on the basis of "If I were a union leader responding to these policies what would I do?". For the rest of it I've just posted facts which have no political leanings what so ever, eg all MPs having a pay freeze, making a profit on the money we're loaning to other nations.
