Great news for the lad. http://newstvgenre.altervista.org/lenihan-brought-into-ireland-squad/?doing_wp_cron=1412684983.4024789333343505859375
Elmo has been withdrawn from the Egypt squad with a back spasm. It really is fantastic for Lenihan to get a call-up, it would be weird to have a full international that had never even played for our first team.
Manchester United have had a few in the past, Corry Evans springs to mind. Have we ever had an international that hadn't played for our first team before?
Anyone remember when Alan Jarvis was our only international on the books - Wales it was to boot...get in there Chessie...
I think we remain the only fourth tier club ever to have a fixture postponed due to the number of players away on international duty, from memory it was five. Though I could have just imagined it.
Add in Dawson, McGregor, Huddlestone, McShane, Lenihan, Bruce, Jakupovic and we have 20 internationals...not sure if Livermore/Harper are, and Davies certainly should be. Any more?
So that's 23 internationals on our books...plus Ramirez and Ben Arfa on loan. Wonder if any other teams below top-10 have so many? Amazing change from a few years ago.
