He would need to have been very naive to have given up the N.I. post without a Watford contract.

Boothroyd, Dyche, Rodgers and Malky all had less experience than McKinlay.

    Hi Bolton,

:emoticon-0107-sweat Forgive me it wasn't aimed at you honourable Scots being English but that you are still part of Great Britain and therefore not deemed a Foreign Nation as you would have been. :emoticon-0107-sweat

Hmm if true then don't think they have handled it very well at all. Billy should have just been caretaker while they decide who should take over permanently, then tried to keep Billy in the coaching set up.

Will the new guy now want to bring i his own coaching team...? So what happens to Oscar's men?

My daughter used to drink with the Hercules players in Alicante when she lived there, need to get an inside track on the new guy...

Overseas leagues with a lower standand than the EPL where McKinlay coached, or indeed the Championship. I am very worried by the Pozzo's attitude, do they really have such a low view of British coaches?

I used to drink in The Hercules Arms in Lambeth North Road. But I still think this appointment is daft.

I would have understood it more if McKinlay had resigned after being approached by Fulham - that would not be good but not unusual.
However the Pozzos have been awful as it turns out. They will be due to pay McKinlay compensation whether or not he had a written contract - they would be hard pushed to deny a verbal relationship which in these circumstances is enough in law. He deserves compensatiion.
This New Joke - Joka- novic had better be bl**dy good is all I can say. His credentials do not look much better than Sannino.

    Underwhelmed is my first thought

Very very bad, not the Watford way.....!!! Why if this was the plan did they not appoint McKinlay as interim would have been honest and above board, if this was not the plan but a reaction to two results then it indicates a lack of planning which is also unacceptable, no credit coming out of this episode though undoubtably if the players deliver half a dozen straight wins this episode will be forgiven pretty quickly. Disappointed as I saw McKinlay as a bit of a reversion to the Watford way of bringing through talent off the pitch as well as on it.....

I have thought since the start of the season that the Pozzos are banking very heavily on gaining promotion this season. After the rather poor displays from the last two games, nothing new, I suspect that they had second thoughts about McKinlay. As Gino Pozzo said on the official site, "Our job is always to act in the best long-term interests of this football club. There can be no compromise on this - whatever the circumstances." This sounds to me that he is saying, if we need to be ruthless, we will be, and even good PR will suffer if we think it is required.

Yes but he's quoting this guy as experienced - what, in the Serbian league 2008?? Thailand?? La Liga Div 3? Experience of managing in England or the Championship? No.
If they were going for an experienced winner they have aimed low. Very low.
This has been managed very poorly indeed and I am embarrassed today to be a supporter frankly and feel very sorry for McKinlay and hope he does land the Fulham job or similar particularly after the club gave him the job and he committed himself by resigning from his Northern Ireland job.
I do not think it is possible to appease such actions. The management of the club have behaved badly in this matter.

This is all very strange--even bizarre. I thought the Pozzo's were serious people who did things in a considered way. Unless circumstances have forced their hand here, they are beginning to look more like the sort of capricious owners that have created uncertainty at clubs like Leeds and Cardiff. Or are they being decisive? Doubtless more details will emerge in due course, but whatever the reasons it cannot be a good thing to have such a rapid turnover of coaching staff. Unless of course you end up with the right man for the job. Which remains to be seen. Yet another manager seen off by Lloyd Doyley. One element of continuity in an uncertain world.

Can we change the music the players enter the field with from Z-Cars theme or Sandstorm by Darude to The Joker by Steve Miller Band?

    I think the song and band name is quite apt;
