any criticism is very quickly attacked , with bollox comments like " get behind the team "

we ARE behind the team , no one is slagging off the team , just the Divot at the head of it.

But that gets skirted over sharpish .

fortunately by less and less people now .

Even some of the die hards are getting severely peeved with the same old fare that Arsene is serving up.

    Give it time.

    Maureen 11 -0 Wenger

    some progress.

Tony Pulis has a better idea of nullifying Chelsea than Wenger .

Fat Sam has a better idea of nullifying Chelsea .

Wenger has proved himself time and time again to be totally clueless.

PISKIE, do you think Wenger is the right man to manage Arsenal? Yes or no?

I challenge you and AFCFTW to admit that Wenger is tactically devoid of talent .

go ahead , defend his record against the big teams over the last few seasons , without resorting to comments about " LUCK "...and bad refereeing.

    Who needs to improve specifically?

Wenger certainly doesn't 'need' to. Simply because there doesn't seem to be any accountability for not improving. There can't be... Otherwise something would have happened for the last few years of not improving.

He earns his crust as one of the highest paid managers in the world by doing squat to improve.

they say they DO criticise , but the fact is they just repeat the lines , we need to improve.

    They dont know how .

they dont care what it entails .

they just know that Arsene is , and always will be , the man to do it .

    <cheers>

lip service to the need to change , then scoff at those who propose the most radical change of all.

You have completely sidestepped the issue being discussed again. You said 'You lot are just behind Wenger , NOT Arsenal. You dont want whats best for ARSENAL' and that is complete crap (which is probably why you've tried to sidestep it)

You also then said people 'support Wenger regardless, blindly and without criticism' and I challenged you to point out who exactly does that ? I'm guessing you sidestepped that one also because again nobody actually does that.

If you actually talked about the football and discussed the issues being put forward instead of trying to put words into people's mouths that they haven't said, then you might actually get somewhere.

So let's hear it then, what would you have done differently on Sunday that would have changed the outcome ? If Wenger isn't doing what he should, then what does he need to change ? Let's hear the details rather than 'He's lost the plot' and other meaningless generalisations. You never know, we might actually agree with each other ......

Not true, I've always tried to be fair with my assessment. Rather than purely reactionary.(I even take the time to use punctuation )

Wenger has his strengths as well as weaknesses. These get overlooked whenever we are doing poorly.
If we replace Wenger there's a very good chance we will fall even further behind our rivals. That is just a fact.

Like I have said many times on here his lack of tactical adaptability is a big problem. Another problem though is our often negative and famously quiet fan base. Good support will always help performances.

    Again, that is bollocks.

Try reading some comments. Start with mine on the Chelsea match thread and the Walcott and pace thread and then come back and tell me that 'they don't know' 'don't care what it entails'. I have given detailed opinions on what I think we need to do in attack and MF and which players can do it and how they might go about doing that. Including how that will then allow other players to come into play and utilise their skills. What we need to do as a team to defend as a unit and how the fullbacks can be best employed.

Let's hear some details from you, (seeing as you like to accuse others of not providing them) because we never hear anything from you other than meaningless soundbites - let's hear what footballing, player and tactical changes you would make.

Or are you just going to sidestep this again ?

The simple fact is if two clubs hadnt been granted a wish then arsenal would have another 2 or 3 premier league titles. There would be talk of you guys knocking liverpool into 3rd in the overall league title standings.

The timing of it all was awful for arsenal. All finances were going towards the ground and the whole structure of thebgame has changed overnight. He was playing catch up through no fault of his own.

Wow this board has become a depressive place. Its kind of wierd because I still see some positives this season, especially with injured players set to return. I really think my problem is that I am just too positive to fit in around here. :(

There are a couple on here who can`t/don`t want to see that. All they cry for is a new manager, as far as i have seen they have never even suggested who this new manager should be or what they think he should do to improve the team. I don`t think i have ever seen them give a thought on what Wenger could do to improve things, just pass comments like "he`s lost it" or "he`s past it".

Wenger could play players in their correct positions. You buy a left winger, play him on the left. You buy a central midfielder, play him in the centre. Don't buy central midfielders to play out wide. He could study the opposition and set up to counter them instead of setting up to play "the Arsenal way." Every man and his dog could see Arsenal needed a strong, combative midfield against Chelsea but Wenger played Wilshere over Rosicky. He could sign the players the team needs - a CB and a DM - the players Arsenal fans have been crying out for for several transfer windows. He could buy players early in the window ala Chelsea instead of waiting for deadline day bargains. Last summer Ozil arguably saved his job by becoming available last minute. This summer it was Welbeck. However, these things and many more won't happen because Wenger never changes. As for a new manager I'd advocate de Boer or Garde - both have good experience, play good football, encourage the youth and have long careers ahead of them. Either in my opinion should be a good choice to replace Wenger, and they should do it soon.
