Just looking back at some old posts I had made and came across one from the 8th June. This was the morning after Jordans sale to l/pool when there had been a flurry of posts and articles in relation to his sale, the price we got for him and the valuation of Ngog who was apparently part of the deal. There was a lot of anger and emotion coming out that night and I certainly felt a divide between our Brethren that evening. My post hinted that this was turning into the most important transfer window in recent years and that it was imperative that Bruce, Niall and ES got it right. Fast forward a few weeks and we have on board 5 new players that are a fantastic mix of youth, potential and experience! And with potentially more to come in (o'shea). We are in a much better place IMO and I for one feel a lot happier with how things are shaping up and find myself getting excited and looking forward to the new season with a new found sense of optimism and vigour. But for me, what is more pleasing is that our differences seem to have been put aside and the anger and frustration of June 8th seem a distant memory and we have come back together as a unified brethren, a red and White army, moving forward, together, undivided! Bring on the new season, bring on the mags! Sunderland til I die!!!!!!
To be fare I think virtually everyone was in agreement even then that we should wait and see what unfolds over the window.
I just recall there being so much anger flying about with 2 distinct camps. 1 calling for calm and patience like you say to see what happens at the end of the window and the other camp calling for Bruces head on a stake and being critical of the whole set up at the club. All that's in the past now though and we move on
Aye. It's never easy when the club sell one of our better players. Add to that he's one of us and it's easy to see why things got a bit heated. All in the past now and the squad is getting stronger by the day.
Good post mate. I've made very few comments lately but enjoyed our posters getting turned over and in a sh*tknot -some of the entrenched debaters have been a fun+annoying-repetitive-dull. Everyone thinks they're Alex Ferguson on here and the shallow minded keyboard warriors who said drop Henderson 6 months ago are the same posters who said selling Henderson shows no ambition.
I never said drop Jordan and have been one of his strongest admirers (still am btw) and although the lad desperately needed a rest, I am still gutted we sold him. However, its out of our control and the activities if the past week or so, have diverted attention to more positive threads today. I think SB has begun to swing the pendulum back in his favour now but to be honest, after the absolute shambles of the last 4 months of the season, he was either going to sink or swim very quickly. There was no middle ground to be had. I am genuinely delighted he has chosen to swim. Long may that continue.
Would have loved Jordan to stay, but there is a bigger picture, and Bruce is painting it beautifully.. The Jordan sale has helped us move on, some come on Bally and co. produce some more, but hopefully we will be in a position that there is no need for them to move on.
ok then you can have it, or can i give you all the mags latest signings? that totals up to about £50
