Jury is still out for me too Matt but facts must be faced. 5th place and have won 3 of 7.We have Britton , Gomis and Montero waiting to make an impact. We have , it seems , the keeper of our dreams.Jazz and Tiendilli are at least good cover for Taylor and Rangel .We have a central defender coming back from injury that was keeping our 7 million £ summer signing from playing . Speaking of which , Fernandez will be excellent as we move on .Bony is up to speed and talking about being here all season. It's all up to what Monk can do with them now.I was going to put up a thread saying how these next 2 games are critical to Monks career , ....huge imo.
Recent form? Unbeaten in three, including a first ever victory over former European Cup Winners Cup Champions Everton, preceeded by two defeats by teams in Champions League places, including the favourites for the Premier League title, former European Champions Chelsea.
I agree but we're not Utd with all their resources and experience at this level , they lose a couple of games and then spend how much ? on 3 players who have made an instant impact because of their undoubted quality, we don't have that luxury I'm afraid but we have a little, and more importantly Monk, has time to learn but he has to learn quickly .His assistant is a man brought to the Club to oversee the Academy (Pep Clotet) although well respected this will be along with Monk his first season at this level so it's a steep learning curve for all .
With only 2 points from the last 4 games , dragonborn has more than a point . If we have a couple of bad outings against Stoke and Leicester, with tougher clubs on the horizon , Monk will be in a very precarious position . Just not the scenario I think that will unfold dragon .. cheers
You spend all your life wanting your Club to be successful and then when they are you want to turn the table upside down. That's bizarre.
So you're saying that posters of a like mind to Boundy want our Club to be unsuccessful? Oh you're funny. Those typewriting monkeys banging away in your closet need a good kicking, PGF
So you're saying that posters of a like mind to Boundy want our Club to be unsuccessful? Oh you're funny. Those typewriting monkeys banging away in your closet need a good kicking, PGF FYI the last four games are indicative of recent form. But you knew that.
Why do you think whitey?.Because thats what happened in the last 4 games, sets a trend .A couple of loses and we would have 2 points froma possible 18 in 6 games . Hardly a source of strength . Pretty sure it wont happen , pretty sure were in for 6 the next 2 games . Funny guestion whitey , considering the numbers manipulated toward our last manager , god forbid I mention his name
Quite - we are on target for 60 points given games played But it is not so rosy when we consider who we have played. Apart from a fairly unexpected win against ManU (which given their form in the first few weeks was abysmal our win may not have been as impressive as we thought) we have taken points from WBA (our points bank in recent years & we played quite well for half a game) and five points from three clubs in the bottom three (including a very fortunate three against Burnley). In August I said I'd give Monk until the end of October before making up my mind about how well he's doing and I am trying to stick to that. But performances have not been good IMO we are riding our luck and out placing is as much to do with the some strange results for teams usually in the top half of the league as it is for our performances. I'm enjoying our placing but not our football.
the way I read the report is that he doesn't think anyone will come in for him as opposed to him sayin' "I'm not going anywhere" (apart from the African Cup of Nations)
Bony has not produced anything special so far this season for any big club to be interested in him so i think it is right that he wont be going anywhere.
Remember he was slow to get going last season and look what happened. Played very well Saturday I thought.
yes he scored but he still did not look like a £24m player. he should be playing a lot better by now imo...
One of our best players imo. Link up play excellent, particularly with Siggy, and not so selfish that he won't set others up for a goal. Jeez, and I'm accused of being too negative and over critical.
Recent form is indicated by the League table but it appears you want to erase the three wins from the record books. Some fans are only happy when they can have a good moan about the Swans - even when we are being relativeley successful...or is it that you read your newspapers upside down?
You could have chosen any number between 1 and 7 as well as the League cup fixture. You chose the most negative option.
I chose the recent bad run , like our last manager was flooded with last season .These next few games is a teetering point for Monk .Our last manager had injuries and top clubs as his only excuses for poor form over Christmas , our present one has a healthy team and a balanced fixture list to work with.To see you want to only look at the " Whole season " so far and not just recent form , and valley the other day wanting to only count the last 3 games instead of the last 4 games of recent form because "We werent expecting to get anything from the Chelsea game " is just the biggest laugh . There will be only be good or bad for us the next handful of games , nothing in between imo . Im leaning toward good , off of positives from the last game .
