    Dickie Bird
    Sir Patrick Stewart
    Mick McCarthy (obviously)
    Michael Parkinson
    Michael Palin
    William Hague
    David Hockney
    Geoffrey Boycott

Football manager and pin-up boy Mick McCarthy once managed to collect 10 points over a whopping 37 games while in charge of Sunderland.

Still, it's not for his win rate and boyish good looks that McCarthy makes the list. Instead, it's for furthering the very Yorkshire cause of saying it like you see it. Here's a selection of his very best efforts:

-- "Anyone who uses the word 'quintessentially' in a half time talk is talking crap."

-- After a 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa: "I haven't got enough time to tell you [what went wrong] - Match of the Day only lasts an hour and 20 minutes, doesn't it?"

-- "I thought I had seen it all when it comes to the fickleness of football folk. Then I heard Spurs fans singing 'There's only one Alan Sugar'."

-- On an own goal by his team after 60 seconds of a match: "F****** abysmal, that was what I f****** thought of it . Come on, let's get to it, I'm trying my best here. What did I make of it? I thought it was the best bit of f****** football I've seen in a long time. Do me a favour. It was a crap start to a game. There you have it, can you print all that? F****** rubbish, absolute tosh. Drivel. S****. Bulls***. That's what I thought of it. Did that help? I'm quite pleased, apart from the fact that's given them the poxy result. I'm f****** livid about it – of course I am. So, there you have it."

I voted Parky but what an abysmal list that is in general. Lucky Yorkshire has some great beauty and lovely cities as it looks like is famous sons are terrible.

I'm surprised none of the Leeds boys have come over to comment!

Oh but I suppose I haven't mentioned biggest away attendances so I guess that's why! <laugh>

Why didn't Jarvis make it into your list Warky?

In any case it's too close to call between Palin and Parky. Or perhaps in the wider sense it should really be Jessica Ennis.
