The Chronicle spoke to behavioural psychologist Dr Nick Neave, who has analysed snaps of Big Sam. They show him transform from a relaxed figure to a man close to buckling under the strain. Our first picture shows Allardyce in July at the Magpiesâ pre-season friendly against Celtic, where he is sat in his chair, phone in mouth. Itâs the little kid in the playground.â After an intense month of speculation about his future, Allardyce looked the happiest he has been after the clubâs FA Cup draw. But Dr Neave thinks the smiles and waves were a red-herring. He said: âI think the final picture after the Stoke game shows he knows it is all over. âYou have to wonder whether he knew something was up. It is not a happy smile, more a farewell grin. âIf someone had asked me is that his first game or his last, I would definitely have said his last. The smiling is in the mouth, not in the eyes. âThe other thing is his chewing rate. Not me. Not today anyway. I have determined to give Harry 10 games and I'll stick with that assuming TF does too. However, realistically, we look doomed at the moment. I have this awful feeling we're going to try to buy our way out of trouble in January with even worse financial consequences. The 'victory' over Derby at Wembley feels a bit hollow tonight.

I think the players we have are good enough, but the manager isn't. The sooner he goes the better. January could be too late.
Look at it this way, he sold Simpson and didn't replace him and he would have sold Traore. He 'never saw' Remy going when everyone else knew it was a dot on the card. None of those key positions were replaced let alone strengthened. We're done for, simple as that, even Pulis wouldn't be able to pull this one off because we are weak in the positions where we can be exploited even by the weakest teams in this league...
Nothing much positive about Harold The only thing I have seen is that he got us to keep the ball a lot better but then he went to the sweet shop , his eyes got big again and he brought a out of date batch And TF has to take responsibility for hiring his circus . I think each of Harry's balls have an offshore account, not to mention a couple of dogs each and a mistress. There friggin big enough seeing he's putting his hand out each week for a pay cheque!
Giving Arry 10-12 games is only justifiable if we think there's a genuine chance of improvement. Has he actually stood up at a game since the play-off final (apart from pleasantries to opposition managers before and after a game and an amble to and from the dressing room)?
Quite right about Simpson and Remy - Harry is culpable. He had plenty of time to get a Plan B for Remy and should have assumed we would lose him, rather than hoping for the best. But I don't think we're "done for" if we get a decent, tactically adept, player-motivating manager in now. I still think there's plenty of raw talent in the team, it's just that there's a malaise among the players brought on by the fact that Harry is overawed by other Premier teams and appears indifferent, detached and dispassionate to ours.
