What should Cotts do for the JPT game?

On one hand it's a competition we can win with a day out at Wembley (and is live on TV)

On the other should he rest key players for the League game?

Personally I would give 90 minutes to ElAbd, Cunningham, Pack, Wagstaff and JET - maybe rest Flint, Smith, Wilbraham & Little. Certainly anyone carrying a knock should not play (Williams got a whack on Saturday)

    Thoughts fellas?

As you say smhbcfc it's a good chance to give some other players a run out in competitive circumstances. Perhaps if we progress another 2 rounds then is the time to step up the ante by putting out a stronger squad. We can't keep playing the same side week in and week out and not expect some injuries, suspensions and other factors to impact on team selection so the JPT is the perfect opportunity to try and fit the right pegs in the right holes for when we need to make changes.

We don't have the luxury of having World Cup players sitting on the bench so smaller squad management is critical to our season and I think SC is well aware of the facts and has done a great job.

Are you only allowed to make 6 changes for the JPT?

Cotts will make as many changes as possible & still try to win the game, this comp could be good for City!

I don't care about it, its a distraction we don't need, play all the players who need game time and what will be will be.!

I want to go to wembley and so I want us to win it.
However perhaps use the game to give some of the bench time to shine, start Burns.

If you could see into the future promotion is priority and the JPT is secondary.

Play the reserves,we need to keep our best players for the league in my opinion.

    Promotion is a must.

We all believe we are going to go to Championship this season which is good...but don't forget L O, NOW BOTTOM 6 OF lge 1

We should play our regular team, treat it as a cup match of importance, Chelt are not no hopers at this!

Should we go in 3-0 up at half time make the changes then.... maybe an attacker and 3 others, keep a couple back if we are allowed 6.
don't forget we need a result!

    Here's the actual rule:

7.3 Each Club shall play its full available strength in and during all matches. The Board will from time to time issue a policy as to what constitutes 'full available strength'. Any Club failing to meet this requirement will be required to pay a fine of up to £5,000.

    Read more at http://www.football-league.co.uk/global/trophyrules.aspx#IzjxHqE4ATlilbHA.99

We probably get about £10k for the game being on TV so if we wanted to make 11 changes the fine is fairly small

It's a Micky Mouse competition and we're best out of it. I would rest Elliot, Flint, Agard, Wilbraham and Smith as I feel these are our most important players at the moment.

No mention of 6 from the last starting eleven? In that case with a fine of up to £5,000 as the penalty, I would put the complete reserve team out. They all need match time against league opposition not just infrequent under 21 games.

And if Cheltenham also put out a weakened team what a two fingered salute to Sky!

Bristol City haven't had a good cup run for a long time. The JPT is a good opportunity for us to assert our dominance.

If anything, I'd rotate the odd player in the league. If we're still looking strong in five games time I reckon giving a few of the youngsters a crack in the first-team would be a great idea, even if it's for 45 minutes and purely to give the other players a rest.

A good cup run is something you have in the FA Cup (for us), or the Carling at a push.
The Pisspot Cup is not worth getting your best players injured for, or fatigued to the point that they cannot do their job in the league. It hardly deserves the title 'Cup'.
Who cares if we get to play in the final. Nobody watches it anyway (and if they did they are only after signing our players)
