We made an exception for the boundary move issue because it was a very local issue, just as we do with issues concerning HCC and the club.

There is a big difference between this and your posts about ISIS and jihadi's, which we having to delete. You know full well this is against board rules, yet for some reason you keep pushing your luck, you've been asked to cease doing so by more than one mod, please take this on board.

Okay, but I've been using this forum long before I created this account, and I've witnessed your personal opinions regarding jihadis and Muslims in general; they're not too dissimilar to mine. Can you clarify in a PM what exactly is "against board rules", as the current rule of "no politics and no religion" is too vague. You and Dutch have your own opinions on political matters, and so do other posters. You and Dutch only single me out when I throw my two cents in and there are clearly other posters 'violating' the rules. It would be great if you could clarify what exactly is out-of-bounds, as I'm witnessing other posters doing exactly the same as me, but they don't get any warnings.

Also, I rarely instigate the discussions in the first place, and I only throw my two cents in when people are already discussing the topic at hand. I didn't create the thread on the Falklands; that was Chazz. A thread about the Falkland Islands (and the war) is bound to get people talking about it.

In my first incarnation as mod, I'd delete every comment that was in any way political or religious, this removing any doubt whatsoever.

Since then, we've been asked by several posters to give a bit more leeway with these things and that's what we've attempted to do. So rather than just delete things, we've tended to just remind people of the rules when things started to stray.

So, previously, I'd have deleted NFT's post on this thread, which turned a discussion about whether or not Clarkson was a prat, into a political one about the reason for the Falklands war. I probably should have done so, rather than responding to it, NFT also needs to avoid posting political comments.

There are no hard and fast rules, we just aim to stop threads turning political or religious, sometimes we get it right, sometimes we get it wrong, but you can be certain that there's no grey areas with regard to ISIS and jihadi's, these will always be deleted.

Patches, it's a fuzzy line, and ultimately subjective, but a few people had spotted your recent posting habits, and they suggest you're reasonably aware where that fuzzy line is, as you seem to have been trying to push it in the hope of the very situation you're now in.

This thread is about a number of issues, primarily Clarkson and his publicity stunts. There was always the likelihood of it veering into a debate on the Islands, but in my view it was pretty much about the social and geographic arguments rather than political or jingoistic. I was watching to see if a comment was needing about politics. The reason yours got a mention is more because of other similar posts from you.

EDIT. OLM beat me to it, and probably gave a better response, but I'll leave this anyway.

Post by Sir Cheshire Ben about ISIS:

"Does that mean nothing else matters?

It's absolutely barbaric what those cowardly, faceless bastards continue to carry out in the name of Islam, the supposed religion of peace, it is also completely irrelevant, unconnected & incomparable to any part of this thread or the name change debate."

I like Ben, so this is in no way an attack on him. However, I want to know why this post remained whilst mine was deleted.

I think you and Dutch are quite inconsistent and sometimes hypocritical.

Did YOU report it? The responsibility for moderation falls to all board users. We don't read every post.

Who reported my post? I didn't report Sir Chesire Ben's post because I saw nothing wrong with it, but it was of a similar nature to mine, and mine was deleted.

So YOU didn't report the other post.

Try it from here on in. :emoticon-0105-wink:

Oh, and now you've made the point, stop trying to squeeze political and religious posts onto the board. It needlessly sucks up time from other issues.Ta.

If somebody had reported it, and they'd wanted you to know, they'd perhaps have told you. I certainly would't tell you any more than I'd say who had reported any post. It's private.

Maybe nobody did, it's irrelevant, it's not appropriate for the board and you've been asked to stop doing it.

Follow your own rules then and stop getting involved in political arguments. The same applies to OLM.

They're not my rules, they're the board rules, and I've deleted a lot of my posts and other mods posts when they drift into these areas.

You know full well what the issue is. If you see one of us getting involved, report it and we'll act. But YOU posting politics and religious comments as some sort of protest just sucks time and screws threads up.

Don't get involved in the first place; close the thread and follow the rules.

    Anyway, back on topic.

Clarkson is an idiot and so is the BBC for allowing this to happen

Remarks like "worse than scenes in Iraq or Afghanistan" immediately suggest that he hasn't got a clue about what happens in such countries as being pelted with rocks is small fry in comparison.

It's akin to the deliberate provocation by Orange Order marchers.

The politics subject was brought to a head by the scottish independance thread. After that one or two posters called politics in almost every thread, it was funny the first time, less so the second and now its just boring. No irony at all.
