Roof, how can you expect 3 points at Stoke? I'd be happy coming from there with a point, anything else would be a bonus.
Why did you stop reading? You clearly have, a) little grasp of satire/humour,since the post was dripping with it,and b) a poor memory, since some were putting Monk forward as potential/probable targets for the Clubs' mentioned. I'm not sure where the negativity is. Reality, for sure.
lolz!!! I just logged in and clicked to the last page of the thread to find... Monk v Laudrup! See you all in a mother few weeks. Can't watch this all season.
Reading some of the comments on here this morning, I despair at some of our 'fans'!! Knives are sharpening already & lets be honest, you could tell some were just waiting for it!!! Makes me feckin sick... I've stood there with 3,500/4,000 hardy souls on the North Bank in the 80s/90s & the way they are behaving at our team & manager, of a Club, that are sitting 4th in the Premier League is disgusting.... I passed someone, because I won't refer to him as a fan, on the way to the boozer after the match & all I could hear him shouting to someone at the top of his voice was. "Effin rubbish, they're absolute effin rubbish!!" It was all I could do to just carry on walking away!! I rest my case your honour...
I agree. He got the subs right, but the timing was all wrong in my opinion. I was expecting to see Montero around the 70th minute, to replace Dyer. I'd have also the brought Emnes on when he did (80th). We needed to inject some extra pace when 2-1 up to try and kill the game. We just seemed to be slowing and in doing so giving the Toon the belief they could get back in...which they did. The next two games will be crucial, but by no means easy. I'd like to see us on at least 14 points going into Nov as we will the have a tough run, and before we know it we'll be nearly at the halfway point in the season. Given that we were on 9 points after 3, 2 points from the other four games, against the teams we have played, is piss poor.
4th place after 7 matches isn't so bad is it? Or were the likes of Libertarian and Dragonborn expecting us to be to of the table. Yes, only 2 point from 4 matches, but could easily have been more. That's not making excuses, but is just the way football is. The manager can't control every little detail of a match. These things work themselves out over time. We're top 4 and that is fantastic at this stage of the season. Couldn't really ask for much more. We're not perfect and never will be. And neither will any other team. It's sad that the likes of Libertarian and Dragonborn are attacking our manager again.
We're not attacking. We are observing, analyzing and offering opinions. We're not rewriting history. We're not blowing smoke up anybody's arse. The guy is making decisions regarding the use and timing of subs that are inadequate, not learning, because of this it is becoming a trend, which threatens to become a bad habit. The situation is within his hands to change. Being a rookie is not an excuse, it is an explanation and it's getting tedious.
Plastic is a perennial troll, YJ. Sad for this forum he's returned. Even posters like DragonPhil and Valley have criticised Monk's timing on subs.
We played well for large parts yesterday and should have been 4-1 up at half time but for some incredible saves. There's naff all Monk can do if the opposition keeper is on fire as 9 times out of 10, Bony would have got a hat trick yesterday. I honestly believe, sooner rather than later we will click and give someone a hiding.
Our good game is starting to come to a head valley , thats why I expect us to take 6 points from Stoke and Leicester . And if we do , we will be full of confidence heading into the games against tougher opponents . How we didnt win yesterday is a miricle really .drawing games we should have won is our achilles heel , has been for a long time. If we can ditch that , were laughing ..
What we have to be careful of is that one of these games was v Chelsea, another v Southampton which were we destroying until Bony got sent off and we played Sunderland who dived and kicked the hell out of us all game. 2 points from 12 sounds piss poor as you say, because we should have had 3 points yesterday, but the 2 points from 12, for me, doesn't reflect on how we've played.
I agree with that Valley. That's why I think it's harsh to criticise the players individually. On MOTD it was pointed out how effective we were and how Siggy was the star of the show with his two assists for the goals. For that reason I can't understand why DragonPhil said he should have been subbed but it's all about opinions I guess. Like you, the only thing I can criticise is the overall lack of intensity which almost certainly had an effect on the result, and Monk's poor timing of subs which may or may not have had an effect.
Agree. Hopefully Bony will be oozing confidence now after his goal and will start being more clinical like last season. Yesterday he was up against a keeper who had a screamer unfortunately.
It Goes up and down. Reckon Monk was surprised with so many players leaving this summer. A Jdg engine for quality and squad depth would have made it so much easier for Swansea. Monk now needs to show what he's made of, some style of playing the players are comfortable with and that leaves no headless chickens is needed, the last couple of games have shown some worrying signs.
Stoke away is one of our toughest games of the season, we've lost two and drawn one up there in the Prem. Leicester are newly promoted and, managed by Nigel Pearson, will be a tough nut to crack. If you're expecting six, prepare to be disappointed because it's an unlikely scenario.
I thought Dyer looked a little tired after 60-65 yesterday, that's why I wanted a fresh Montero on to batter their defence and keep the intensity up. Hopefully over the international break, Monk will analyse the effectiveness of his subs, and start bringing them on when we are in control, rather than waiting for things to go tits up.
I'd be very happy with 4 points from the next two games but if a betting man, I'd say we will take three points.
