So despite a crap season... for now at least (some teams have game in hand) - we're only 1 pt off 4th?

That's not too bad! Unless United pull off a win against Everton- we'll be ahead of both our two local rivals too again!

  3. Again, I didn't say it was great, I said it looked better. Far from happy with it but thought a clean sheet was deserved today mainly because they created very little. the only saves Migs had to make were shots from distance.

1 point off third! Though City have not played yet, and if City loose Villa go third and we go 7th.

  6. Yep, with the fixtures and poor form we've had I'd have taken that pre-season

433 suits us and we reaped its benefits today, but the defence should play higher when opponent retreats.

Hopefully Studge will be the catalyst for us not being crap again. He should be back after international break unless Roy makes him play for England with crutches.

Much better 2nd half, more energy and therefore increased goal threat. Hendo excellent.

    Green shoots of recovery :emoticon-0105-wink:

Sturridge is not in the England squad.

Rodgers key decision now is Lallana or Balotelli.

Sterling and Sturridge are pretty certain to start.

True... Arse and City both play this weekend. Unlikely we'll be one point off 3rd by Monday night- but fairly possible still be one point off 4th.

"Realistic" minimum target for me is 4th.

Was impressed with Lallana and hendo today, two great performances. Thought Lambert was ok, but all he really has in his locker is his determination to get the ball. Balotelli was better, played quite a few good balls instead of looking to hold it up himself and turn and shoot. Lucas should lay off the pot shots, there's a reason he hasn't scored in the prem in 5 years. Johnson also was quite assured in defence, surprising.

As for the back 3 of mig, skrtel and lovren....there is just something fundamentally wrong with them. Mignolet still looks as flappy as ever and the 2 cbs are like a comedy sketch. **** knows what we're gonna do with our defence long term. awful

It looks like he will return from injury just in time to get injured on international duty again.

    That's 433 for you.

  15. I reckon we'd have run away with that game had Sturridge played instead of Lambert/Balotelli

Both played better today than their average this season. I suppose it depends on the formation he wants to use. Balotelli could be a decent striker if he could shoot- the rest of his game is good. Shooting is kinda important for a forwards though- and he is awful at shooting.

I completely agree. They both had chances that I would have bet Studge scoring 2 times out of 3.

  18. Not likely, he's not in the England squad.

Hoping Lallana and Sterling don't play much for England, they both need some time off (Lallana is only just back from injury and Sterling is looking shot)

He made a big mistake with the penalty but other than that, I don't think he was too bad.
