What a load of utter tosh. So now they are demanding clubs have to interview one black man for a managerial vacancy? So what if a black feller doesn't apply for it? Do we have to drag one off the street? I can just imagine the FA or the LMA appointing Trevor Phillips in some kind of advisory capacity. What a good move that would be. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29484593
It's pathetic. Hypothetically let's say Poyet was sacked. We have a couple in mind and decide we would want either Moyes or Pulis, but we can't we have to interview a black manager. So let's throw in Paul Ince. It's like sorry mate you have no hope it's a token interview. It's bull$hite like
If I apply but don't disclose my race, does that mean I would get an interview because they don't know that I'm a transgender albino Inuit left handed ginger aboriginal?
One of my pet hates is the modern term 'Positive Discrimination' which basically guarantees ethnic minorities or in some cases women ethnic priority in recruitment selection even though the white males applying for the job may be better qualified and more experienced..It is a shocking way to do things in my opinion.
I despise racism in all forms. As such I despise the Rooney rule. It's positive discrimination which is discrimination all the same. You should be shortlisting, interviewing and hiring the best people for the job. Regardless of their colour. Colour just should not come into it.
Whoa, hang on a minute. It's not the same as Blair's ruling that so many female MPs had to be selected. All it's saying is that you have to interview one black manager. It doesn't say that you have to accept him. The Blair ruling I despise as outright sexism. This one ... well it doesn't mean a thing at the end of the day. Just interview your applicants - black or white - and take which one you want. I'm pretty much ok with this, even if I don't think it means a thing. It's just yet another do-goodie gesture.
Sorry mate but it stinks...When it comes to selecting candidates for interview then colour or creed should not be one of the criteria..
I think that ruling would be an insult to black men! Just sitting getting an interview knowing that they probably wont get the job!
I've not exactly researched as to why there are few black managers! Does anybody know why? Who is to blame? If there is anybody to blame! I'm suprised there isnt more in the lower leagues!!! Who exactly are the big fat racists??????
Even Rio Ferdinand is jumping on this bandwagon when he has no qualifications other than his opinion. Looking back over the years I cannot think of any black manager who did not eventually fail and was rightly sacked. In fact John Barnes took Tranmere to the brink of ruin.
I cant think of a black manager who has done a consistantly good job in the past, or any who have any prospects of managing a top team in the future! But is this due to the fact that a fair share dont seem to either get the chance to, or decide to, cut their teeth in the lower leagues!?? When you see how many black players there has been, and compare that to the number of black managers now...the sums just dont add up! Why? Racism? I dont know!!! I cant think of a good reason as to why the footballing authorities are happy to have a high proportion of black players but would prefer a low proportion of black managers representing the english game! Any ideas???
Why black? What about a schizophrenic Chinese lesbian that might want the job? There's just no equality these days, ****ing racist Kick It Out organization.
Exactly Ginge. But if the system that was in place when I was there in the '80s they would have been coaching youngsters before they made the first team debut. All age groups got the benefit of that system; took a Brit youth team to a tournament and the Dutch coach was 19yo on the fringes of first team squad. They got 6 lucky goals.
