For once we agree. The Mackems are a vile lot by and large but the Toon lot are proper football fans, though we've all got our idiots I guess. I always worry about being favourites and the Toon players will know Pardew's job is on the line. Still predicting a win but it may be closer than some fans on both sides are thinking. Not sure.
I really do not get our ticket system! It's showing tickets for the game, but when you go online to purchase it's showing no availability on the stadium map, will we ever get organised on tickets or what Huw?.......................
I think it'll be fairly comfortable, despite Swansea's relatively poor scoring record thus far, because our defence is that hopeless. Colo and Williamson are not getting tight enough to their man when the ball comes in, if you can jump you're going to beat Colo to the ball no matter what height you are, and if we tackle you, it'll probably end up being a penalty. The best part is, combine this with our full-backs being a bit schizophrenic and thinking they're wingers (easy mistake really, as our wingers are virtually non-existent), and Dyer and Routledge will be the stars of the show no matter how we play. If we go to play as we have been, on the counter you'll rip our throats out, if we go to defend, it'll be very very easy for you to unlock the defence if you can score 1 before half-time. Riviere won't cause any headaches for your defence, and Cisse is still only half-fit, so Williams and co will not have too much to worry them. Defend properly, as Swansea are more than capable of doing, and it'll be a very easy game. In fact, I guarantee your right now, if you defend properly, you're at least getting a draw. There's nobody in our side to score from 25 yards, and we don't put enough bodies in the box to force one home. Colback has been our most persistent goal-threat... COLBACK!!! I think Bony should be relishing this game, and I'd bet on him to score, but I think this is the type of game where you score 2 and then just retain possession, knowing we can't hurt you.
Nervously confident , Newcastle havent won yet and Im a big law of average guy....that being said , 2 -0 for the Swans .
i'm also nervously confident, we've been quite poor the last couple of (league) games. so i think we're due a better performance also i'm not sure if the toon are all playing for pardew or not. Wilf to come good today, 3-1 to the swans
A win today would put us 10 points clear of Newcastle. I know it's early in the season but that's a huge advantage and not many teams of a similar ability come back from that. Now let's get that win!
I'm confident of a comfortable victory today 2-0 and as PGF says, a massive 10 points from NU, which I'd argue more or less would mean we are already safe
Our points total is really good so far but no better than I would have hoped for - Burnley, WBA, Sunderland and Soton (Home) should IMO have been 3 points each even before the kick off. As it was we gained an unexpected win at Old Trafford and that should have been a bonus in terms of the season. As we have seen Man U are in a very poor run of form and we have done quite well against them in the last two seasons so points were, perhaps, always on the cards. However, IMO our performances have been unconvincing, even poor. It is time to step up a gear and control a whole game, our attackers need to score and we must not sit back and defend from the edge of our penalty area. Good win against a very poor Man U Took points v Burnley but they bossed us for much of the game and should have scored at least one. Took points v WBA (as usual) but again they bossed us for much of the game. The early goal really unsettled them and left pas for us to occasionally exploit. Played well for 20 minutes v Chelsea but were outplayed and the score flattered us. We were coasting against Southampton but failed to take chances and got the tactics all wrong after Bony went off. After that we were battered. Took a point v Sunderland but again we were less than effective even before Rangel was dismissed.
Really??? We f**ing slaughtered them We have been much much better than poor this season otherwise we'd be in the bottom half.
Agreed, Valley. WBA were outplayed by us from virtually start to finish. We've seen teams pull out of what looks like a hopeless situation at Christmas and we've seen teams do well up until that time then fall away dramatically. The point I'm making is that yes, a 10 point gap is big for sure but in early October not something that can't be whittled away by May. Let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet.
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet". Some were so far ahead of themselves that they had the P.L. title winging it's way to The Liberty after the third game of the season.
Excuse my ignorance, I am not keeping up with the U-21. Shephard is on the bench today. What is his position?
