Higginbothan speaks sense; he couldn't see any benefit from a name change & he also questions Hodgson's England selection policy of only choosing from the big clubs whilst Shawcross etc get overlooked.
Higginbotham is clueless his answer go and spend more money on players to get globally well known.... eeerrrmmm thats the whole point were do you get the money from to go and buy these top players ...If you could spend the money on players already you would not have to worry about branding in the first place..
Look at swansea they are now having to seek extra money and investment and this is a club who everyone says we should model ourselves on financially the part thats owned by the fans cant put any money in. Im not saying changing the name would bring any money in but clubs outside the top 5 have to find extra revenue by that i mean several millions just to be mid table
After the Allam interview they show a feature on the new Indian Super League and they feature two teams one of which is called Mumbai City FC It seems the name City isn't worthless to the VERY key market the name change is supposed to appeal to
Actually this brand new competition in the Asian market we are magically going to have support us if only we were called Hull Tiger have TWO teams out of 8 callled CITY. In fact city is the only name to appear twice! More popular than Atletico, United and Dynamos! Atlético de Kolkata Chennaiyin FC Delhi Dynamos Goa Margao Kerala Blasters Mumbai City NorthEast United Pune City
What he was say is that you get fans from the global market because you are successful not because of the name. The vast majority of people who CHOOSE a team or second team (rather than support one close to where they come from) choose a successful and/or exciting one. Not one with a "cool" name.
The biggest football crowds in india support east bengal tigers up to 100,000 for there big matches just saying like
I think you mean East Bengal Football Club now known as Kingfisher East Bengal Football Club for sponsorship reasons.
Allam giving further confirmation that he's an ignoramus, a liar, a bully & a ****. All good to the cause.
I can't even be arsed to watch it but is it him delivering his suicide note in a speech? I'd be happy if it was.
Actually, imo, I suspect the TV money is a bubble about to burst within a few years. Too many clubs who rely on it will come unstuck, those that don't, will emerge on top of the pile. What I'd really like to see this season is Man U not qualify for Europe again and to win nothing at all. Not just for the obvious reasons but to see just exactly what would happen to them financially. Would be very interesting. Plus, of course, it would be funny.
This is great. And not a tiger to be seen. I wonder if Mumbai and Pune have seen how successful Hull City are now and decided to copy.
