Arsenal's Danny Welbeck HITS BACK at Man Utd for sticking him on the wing
    http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...Arsenal-news-Manchester-United-Louis-van-Gaal

Welbeck, 23, could not resist pointing out to Van Gaal that if he is played in the central striker's role he will score goals - not like at United where he was shunted to midfield.

"Nobody can really criticise my finishing because they don't really see me playing in a forward position too often," he said.

"But now I am getting into these positions I want to be sticking the ball in the back of the net. I'm sure it's the same with every other striker.

"Obviously people can say I've not scored enough goals, but you stick the best strikers on the wing in a four-man midfield and see if they score goals."

He said: "I wouldn't say I feel different now. Maybe beforehand, sometimes I wasn't getting through on goal if I was coming from a four-man midfield. Obviously it's difficult to leave your position and go and get goal-scoring opportunities.

"But I'm getting into these positions much more regularly now, and I'm looking forward to sticking the ball in the back of the net.

"If you're getting goals and getting a run of games in your preferred position, your confidence is going to grow and performances are going to grow as well. That is something I am really looking forward to doing, building on those performances.

"When I am playing with these sorts of midfield players, they are looking to slip the ball in behind. I am always ready for that, looking to make the movement right and get in behind the defenders. Tonight I did that a couple of times and scored a few goals.

"I'm looking to build an understanding with the players and getting to know them better, it's good to play with these calibre of midfielders, they are only going to create chances."

Arsene Wenger victim of scathing attack by Arsenal flop Gervinho
    http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/517173/Arsene-Wenger-Arsenal-Gervinho-Roma

Gervinho said: "I feel like a new player in Italy. It is very hard to have confidence in yourself when the coach does not have confidence in you - and it's clear at Arsenal that confidence was not shown in me.

"At Roma the coach and the staff showed confidence in me from the first day - and because of that I have been able to show exactly what I am capable of.

"I don't feel like I have anything to prove in England. I think the proof of what I can do is shown by a coach that has confidence in me.

"Maybe Arsenal now think they should have shown more confidence in me - but that is not my problem. All my concentration is on a successful season with Roma."

Mesut Ozil mocked by Radamel Falcao on Twitter

Manchester United’s clash against Arsenal on November 22 could have an extra edge after it was revealed that Radamel Falcao posted a tweet three years ago comparing Mesut Ozil to a character from The Simpsons.

Falcao’s tweet, which was posted on 14 March 2011 and now has almost 10,000 retweets, simply says: "Ozil has eyes like The Simpsons." <laugh>

Gervinho can **** off. Wenger gave him plenty of chances, not Wenger's fault that Gervinho crumbles when the pressure is on.

We did give him plenty of chances unfortunately he just didn't work for us. It looks like he's found his home with Roma with 9 goals and 12 assists last season in Serie A.

This article is by football god and well respected pundit Joey Barton!

He makes some good points but as it comes from him I find it hard to take anything that **** says seriously.

He's not even saying anything original. I really think Wenger lucked out with some of the "leaders" he had in the group early on who offset Wenger's meekness, which made for a more balanced mentality, as he clearly doesn't consider such players "must haves" on the evidence of about 10 years.
