Seen this article....don't know whether it has been posted before so my apologies if it has. Very interesting....especially his time at Sunderland and what he mentions about the fans.. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ium=referral&utm_campaign=editorial&hpt=hp_t4
I think we know with him it can come with the territory....still he did the business that season....that's for sure!
Sometimes with Keane you never know what is going to happen but it seemed to add a bit of stability for us for a while which helped. Quite liked the lad. Obviously soon as Ellis appeared things went South but hopefully he learnt a lot.....
Fetching Simpson and Evans in on loan was a master stroke from Keane mate, regardless of what he spent on others. If I recall correctly you went the rest of the season unbeaten after they joined.
The lad I liked he brought in was Dwight Yorke. I think he did some damage for your team....lol. He was above anything else just the right player for the dressing!
Yeah, Yorke was probably a good buy for that level. The midfield role didn't work out too well for him mind further down the line.
I will always admire the man for taking us 3rd bottom, to the title. They say you cannot buy a good side but the players he brought in were a jigsaw that worked. Carlos Edwards in that January window was one of the best bit of business the club has ever done. Remember the Burnley match, remember Luton. And remember, Steve Bruce's Birmingham were the team that had lead the way but still their fans wanted Bruce out..
I think the guy was a bit of a legend at your place. Loved seeing him up front with Andy Cole but not when they played Sunderland lol. Where Sunderland were at they needed somebody of his ilk and stature to steady the boat. I bet it was a laugh a minute on the traing ground with him and Stern John......
