Er, in order to avoid accusations of necrophilic activity, I'd like to point out that I should've written "And yes, I would've too"
I suspect it's not much of an organisation, probably just a dozen old biddies who meet twice a month in the village hall.
People react in different ways when they meet a disabled person. The fear and embarrassment of not knowing what to do or say often means the simplest solution is to ignore them rather then make an effort to communicate. Take people out of their comfort zone and they'll do things that are shameful.
Have you tried North Cave indoor bowls as an alternative? Or is the Elloughton one a different variety of bowls? Sorry, I'm not up on my bowling! But agree - what discriminating ****ers.
A lot of people in ERYC live in a collection of houses that would probably get Government funding due to the lack of facilities. But if you call an estate a village, it seemingly gets around it. There's certainly be an outcry if their housing estate was built in Hull with such a lack of basic amenities, like shops, schools health centres etc. Most of them have roads only because it gets them to the facilities and services provided by Hull. These same people seem happy that their rates are being spent on facilities in Beverley or Bridlington.
Makes you wonder why we're all so happy living here, doesn't it? When it comes to shopping, the M62 is more important than the A63, unfortunately.
Happily some good has come out of this. http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Over...ndrome-bowls/story-23038183-detail/story.html Well done the HDM for raising it and good to see the majority agree it's wrong. Shame we won't get names of those who felt uncomfortable...
Hopefully someone will have a look to see if the club receives any direct or indirect support (council, lottery or sports England grant/subsidy) and make sure that stops. Arseholes of the highest order.
