The OS is mainly full of rose-tinted banalities but sometimes we Kremlin watchers pick up on a stray comment that slipped through. Ben Haim and Gomez are unavailable on Saturday and the OS writes: "Michael Morrison is available and left-back Morgan Fox has also previously played in the position for Charltonâs U21 side". This is odd. With all respect to Fox, why would anyone remotely consider him before Morrison for the right-sided CB spot? He has rarely played CB for the u21s and he is involved in the Welsh u21 squad after Saturday. Morrison was one of our few consistent players last season. Something must have gone very wrong since for something like that to get posted.
I think you're reading too much into it eddie. It sounds like the writer is trying to beef up the options we have available, rather than make it look inevitable that Morrison will play. I could of course be very wrong though. If Morrison doesn't play on Saturday then something must definitely have happened behind the scenes.
If Morrison does play on Saturday it will be interesting to see if he can curb his tendency to smash the ball 80 yards up the pitch to an imaginary Peter Crouch.
Morrison is playing on Saturday, Peeters said that after the Norwich game. Fox was only mentioned because he is a first team player who has played centre half before. Eddie you are reading something into it that isn't there. With TBH and Gomez out we are very short of Centre halfs. I wonder if Harry Osbourne is worth a place on the bench. He can cover the right back and Centre half positions. My team for Saturday Henderson Solly Morrison Bikey Wiggins Wilson, Buyens Jackson Cousins Bulot Vetokele Subs Pope Fox Moussa, Harriott Osbourne Tucudean Ahearne-Grant.
When Morrison first joined quite a few of us were quick to point out he was bringing the ball out of defence and how positive it was for us. He seemed to abandon that philosophy entirely during his 2 years back in the Chamionship, but I think a lot of that was down to long ball tactics and also due to the pressure we were facing every week. Hopefully he can repicate his very(!!) early style and compliment Bikey.
I think that Morrison will be fine. It has got to help him that this is a together bunch who have just beaten Norwich on their own patch.
Morrison is a capable player. Only problem is he has not played for ages. I don't think he has appeared for the u21s either?
I have a feeling that Morrison will be a player that gets sold in January, and most likely to Huddersfield.
Think you're right about his likely destination. We know CP likes to recruit players he's previously worked with - though I hope we don't sell him in Jan.
He has played for the U21s in the game against Birmingham. Charlton: Pope; Pyke (Munns 54), Morrison, Thomas, Fox; Gomez, Muldoon (Ansah 60), Bulot; Ahearne-Grant (Holmes-Dennis 88), Church, Harriott. Subs (not used): Phillips, Obileye.
