WATFORD F.C. v BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION F.C.

Watford host Brighton, whose ex-manager that had quit after leading them to the play-offs last season was ours for a while, after Beppe jumped before he was pushed. Then there were some chest pains and well, we have Billy McKinlay now, oh and Garcia's old backroom staff, Ruben Martinez and Javier Pereira! Try fitting that into two sentences. Sami Hyypia is now in charge of the Seagulls but they haven't made the greatest start to the season now ten games in. Here is the table.

Despite the above relative upheaval- (I read a comment in the W/O that said the juggernaut was out of control after Garcia's exit, then someone said it was more like a Ford Fiesta with the handbreak left off!<wizard>) -Watford have started well and have 20 points on the board to Brighton's 10, so mathematically we are twice as good as them. Therefore I predict a 2-0 win. <whistle>

    Team news from ESPN:
Watford are already without five players and have a doubt over Fernando Forestieri ahead of the visit of Brighton. Forestieri missed Tuesday night's 2-1 win over Brentford with an eye injury and will be assessed ahead of kick-off. Fellow striker Troy Deeney is still out with a hamstring injury and is joined on the sidelines by Gabriel Tamas (cruciate), Keith Andrews (calf) and Gabriele Angella (ankle). To add to new boss Billy McKinlay's problems, defender Daniel Pudil is suspended after his late red card against the Bees.

Brighton also have suspension problems with Inigo Calderon and Jake Forster-Caskey forced to miss out. Full-back Calderon completes a three-match ban and midfielder Forster-Caskey sits out on Saturday after racing to five bookings this season. Sam Baldock is a doubt after missing the midweek draw against Cardiff with a calf problem while Dale Stephens (ankle) and Solly March (back) are still missing. Boss Sami Hyypia is set to rotate his squad again with Andrew Crofts and Adrian Colunga pushing for recalls after dropping to the bench against the Bluebirds.
    ENJOY THE GAME!!<cheers>

P.S. I hope Ighalo doesn't take a pen if we get one.

Its the main game on the FLS so probably won't be a great game.

    2-1.

I'd play Abdi if fit..and FF.

Angella was on crutches in the week so not sure about him.

    Hoban in for Pudli.

Nice one Mex. I still don't rate Ighalo and would rather see FF if fit. Can't believe that Fabrinni will be in the starting line up, so interesting to what the line up will be. Haven't got into gear yet and we are still joint top. Onwards and upwards. COYH

I keep reading that we haven't got into gear yet but in my experience if you can't get into gear it's because the gear box is munted. I hope Billy can fix it.

the reason we know there is higher gears for us becasue we know that if billy can get some of our players to play to a level that we know they can do then then very few teams could live with us

we have 3 class forwards (on there day) and how much do you think the midfield player that was only on the bench on tue is worth then we have 4 or 5 the can do a very good job at cb thats with out looking at the pace of our wing backs

i do worry about our goalkeepers mouth lol

its not onwards and upwards its just upwards for the rest of the season

and to cap it all brigton is my last game till march so we will win them all lol

    Cheers Mex for the thread!

I'll be coming up for this one! Going to be another tight game. Hopefully Brighton will try and play, so will leave gaps behind for the likes of Vydra to run in to.

    My team for the game;

    -------------Gomes----------------
    Parades--Cathcart--Ekstrand--Hoban
    ------------Tozser---Munari--------
    -----Murray-----Abdi-------Dyer-----
    -----------------Vydra-----------

Subs; Bond, Doyley, Andrews, Anya, Fabbrini, Fessi, Ighalo

Would like to see Murray back on the wing, as don't think playing central really works for him. Like the midfield pairing of Tozser and Munari, with Abdi just in front. Anya to come on and hopefully use his pace against a tiring defence.

We have strength in depth everywhere except..... we need a captain when Troy is not there and we need to sort out the keeper position in the january window, I'm neutral when it comes to Gomes, he's another Loach, great shot stopper but poor command in the box means some daft goals get in as well as some exceptional saves to make up for it, we need his shot stopping ability combined with someone who really makes the ball theirs in the box and punchers always make me nervous. In our 7 speed automatic gearbox I'd say we still haven't got out of 3rd......

I'm there today for my first match this season. I'm in the upper GT where apart from going in an executive box about 25 years ago, I've never sat. Got a couple of seats which would normally be someone with a season ticket I guess. Trying to give my son a bit more perspective on the game from high up. Last game we went to was Huddersfield last season so let's hope for a better performance than that!

Spot on. We are joint top and yet we never seem to playing our best. A fantastic situation as long as we can find our best eventually!

I'm getting more superstitious as the years go by (currently not wearing the now unlucky black, red and yellow socks on game day after many months of being sure they were lucky!) so I'm not happy to hear we have top billing on the Football League Show. Hopefully that is as much nonsense as the socks......

Hopefully McKinlay is the man who finally starts to use the flappy paddles and put the foot on the accelerator rather than letting the team rumble on in drive.....

Billy McKinlay becomes the 10th Watford manager to select Lloyd Doyley in his starting XI. <applause>
