That would be trash men not trashbin men. They don't use the word bin! Or- "Refuse Collector" is the politically correct term here and what you see more oft now.

Anyone remember from the days of the Spectrum?

Nope! Dustbin men! They're dustbin men and they eat baps for dinner (the midday meal).

Edit: Actually come to think of it- I have heard them called dustmen too (just forgot about it)...

    ♫My old man's a dustman, he wears a dust man's cap,
he wears gor blimey trousers, and he lives in a council flat♫

    Suppose both words are used!

"Wurzel" reminds me of "Worzel"... which sent me on a nostalgia trip of my childhood: just found out that Worzel Gummidge was played by Dr. Who (Pertree) - didn't know that as a kid (also as a kid always thought it was 'Wurzel Gummit' <laugh>)... Also- the woman in WG is the lady that plays Mrs Hudson in Sherlock now.

    Interesting!

Yes. Dustmen or binmen. Not dustbin men though. Way too long.. Have more important things to do that spend an extra 1/2 second saying that

  17. I've never referred to them or heard them referred to as 'dustmen' bar in the song. It would be bin men or dustbin men but main the former.

"Dustmen" must be some southern shandy drinker name for them. Dustbin men work hard using their muscles to load the trucks- whilst dustmen sit around drinking shandies and relaxing and worrying about breaking a sweat! <whistle>

  19. As I said, we refer to them as "bin men" around here.
