I didn't mean he wasn't a good signing, he is, I meant that he isn't "obviously" the best centre half prospect in the PL.
Really..I've seen him play and think he's ok, nothing special...But there again I think Paul Scholes is quality, Alan Shearer was pound for pound the best forward this country has produced in 50 years and Kenny Dalglish is the greatest player i've ever seen live. Jones adds nothing, is a gamble..He may or may not improve..Look at Anderson and others..ok, world beaters no. I have never rated Young, think he gets the hype from the press for one reason..His country of birth.
Yeah, none of which were centre halves and all of whom were finished articles so they aren't really the bench mark you should be using. Jones adds cover and prospects to our defence and Young adds options and youth to our attack. Sorry, but any fool can see that they improve our squad. It isn't even in question.
yeah but our red is better than your red!!! Our board is obviously better too! Manure have got 3 good signings but no improvement to the first team maybe even a step down with the loss of VDS, the same can be said about henderson he a squad player ATM. Now thats out of the way can someone close this thread!!
So we've gone from adds quality to adds cover..bit of a difference!! And Young now adds options...So they don't actually add they help maintain a level..Umm for 34 million i'd want a bit more than maintance.
You really are thick Molby. So signing 2 good players that give us more options and give us a larger squad with more strengthen in depth is not improving our squad
No not really, but just to make it so absolutely clear for you. He adds quality and cover to our defence. That ok? He's NINETEEN, he's been bought for the future. Obviously. And if you don't think Young is any good great, we really don't care. All this smacks of is complete envy that you didn't sign either yourselves. If Liverpool would have signed him he would have been world class, you didn't get a sniff so he isn't. I KNOW thay have improved our squad because I KNOW that we had three retirees and another couple about to leave and another bogged down by the fact thet he is 37 and in the middle of a sex scandal. It is patently clear that our recruits have improved and bolstered our squad. As the other jealous fellow above said, enough said now eh? Let's leave it. Oh yeah and, Manure, that's just so hilarious. And original too, you really are quite the wit.
I remember mancs clearly saying he was average till he was a target. I think what is meant is that the position is strenghtened but not the team. I would agree. best way to look at it is look at a game wheere United were outplayed. Young would not have changed the result at Anfield nor at Wembley, your weakness is not the wings when ye have the ball it is the middle when ye dont have the ball, and that pulls in your wingers and makes em even less effective. If a boxer has a weak gut but really strong arms, he doesn't work the bag to make his arms stronger, he gets out the medicine ball and works on the gut, United have not worked on the gut so it would seem the same weakness is there, I think that was the point being made, a valid one too
So Ashley Young can play as a Defensive midfielder and as a central midfielder as well as wide left.If you think that you really are stupid.Man United don't have a central midfield.Anderson is muck,Gibson isn't good enough for Oldham,Carrick can only pass side-ways and backways, and apart from being 37,the only things Giggs can tackle are his brothers wife and mother in law and a welsh tramp with big tits. Ferguson should have identified that first before$ making two ''luxury signings''.Have they strengthened,my opinion is still no.
No-one has said that and no-one has said we have strenghthened the weakest area(s) of our team but Young and Jones add more depth to our squad and Young in particular gives us more options. It's a squad game for ****s sake.
Luiz cost a reported 25million Euros, Phil Jones cost a reported £16/17million rising to £20million. Not worlds apart.
A clever manager signs players for positions of weakness.Ferguson has done a Mark Hughes and signed players that don't fill positions of weakness. And that is not very clever. There is massive hole in the centre of Man Uniteds centre midfield. They need not one but two players to fill it.Forget about the CL,you're definitely not going to win that.I also believe teams in the premiership will have cottoned on to the fact that if they swarm all over Man Uniteds poor excuse of a central midfield they are there for the taking.
The poor excuse of a central midfield that has won the league four out of the last five seasons! And yes, before you come back with some pityful reply, Anderson, Carrick and Fletcher were all in that squad. All of them. Only Scholes will have left and for the last three seasons he's been a bit part passenger, Hargreaves has also left and he contributed zero. I have really heard it all from you . You talk utter ****e, none stop, all day. Yeah you're right, Ferguson is just like Mark Hughes. Imbecile.
You can't deny it though - your current midfield is not one befitting of a team aiming to be best in the world. I don't rate Fletcher or Carrick at all, and I think Anderson had potential but is a bit like Babel in that I doubt he'll ever really realise it. You need a better central midfielder than Carrick/Fletcher to be honest, which is ironic because I'd argue we have one of the best midfields in the league, yet weak wings and a weak squad. Whereas you have strong wings and a strong squad, but a poor midfield.
I'm not denying it but the FACT is, this CM has won four of the last five premier league titles. We need some new players there, Scholes and Hargreaves has just retired and I also think Gibson is not good enough, but how in God's name can any of you lot on here justify in any way piss taking of our squad? It is infinitely better than yours, miles better, as has been proven over and over again for the last three decades. It's been added to with three young and, generally accepted to be, very talented players. (Only not accepted by Liverpool fans of course, this despite the FACT that KK wanted two of them and failed to get them. Really looking forward to the ones you do get who will be no doubt better than ours). Our squad pisses all over yours. Even your best CM is now so far over the hill as to be irrelevant and you're selling your next best one. You have no width, your full backs are ****, your centre halves are carried by one who is getting older by the day. You've got one very good centre forward and another who is criminally over priced who the jury is still well and truly out on. You've got a good goalkeeper. Other than that your back up squad is flimsy and ****, unlike ours which is the whole POINT of this. It's about the squad. We HAVE improved ours. No amount of whining on here will ever change that. As players have retired so they have been replaced, no standing still. This will be borne out all too painfully for you yet again next season.
BBF. Spot on with the boxing examples.Strong arms are little use when you have no gut.Wingers are pointless when you have no midfield as the wingers don't see any of the ball.Alan Hansen used to say that the hub of any team is the central midfield.Liverpool as you've said have a strong central midfield as good as anyone in the premiership, better than Arsenals and Chelsea's and certainly better than Man Uniteds.Manchester City possibly have the best central midfield in the league. We need width, natural width and a tempo changer however, for away games. We're incredibly strong. We need flair. Man United fans claim Liverpool beat them in a ''one off game''.So did Barcelona,So did Chelsea,so did Arsenal.Why...They got swarmed in central midfield.Aaron Ramsey a rookie, and having just returned from injury having been butchered by ex Rag Ryan Shawcross took the piss out of Carrick and Anderson. If they don't improve this, and I don't think they will, they will not have strengthened.Ashley Young or no Ashley Young. Thats the reason why Liverpool beat Man United to a pulp.Liverpool swarmed around them. They couldn't cope...and guess what,Lucas and Gerrard did absolutely nothing apart from slam the door shut. They sat in front of the Liverpool back four and just sucked Carrick and Scholes in and put them into their pockets, this gave Mereiles,Maxi,Kuyt and Suarez the room to cause havoc.Man United needn't have had any wingers or forwards,as they were as much use as tits on a bull.Lucas and Gerrard just didn't let them play. I just hope Kenny signs the flair we need to make us that much stronger.
First bold bit is laughable. Second bold bit is even worse as we have two right backs better than your first choice one.
Our 3rd choice right back(Flanno) is better than their first choice right back which is of course one of the hotdog twins.
