i like this forums style, i may pop back now and then to just get a reminder of what good S&M we used to enjoy in the south
Whenever I think of Southampton two players come to mind, Matt le Tissier of course an amazing and loyal footballer well under used by England IMO and Terry Paine another very loyal Southampton player with an amazing record of over 800 appearances and also under used by England. Soutnampton certainly must have something when you look at their record of producing top top players.
Le Tissier was always going to be on the right track though Spurf, as he was trying to emulate his boyhood hero, Glenn Hoddle. The same Glenn Hoddle that didn't pick him for the World Cup! Would've come to Spurs, but his missus didn't want to move to London.
As someone who grew up in the 70s in Kent, I grew up disliking Southampton because of A TV programme! I am sure some of you will remember the Big Match (from the days when we only had highlights on TV!) which showed on Sunday afternoon the highlights of a big game from London, and in Kent (on Southern TV as it was at the time) we normally got to see the Big Match, but every now again I would tune in knowing that the Big Match was showing a a good Spurs win from the Saturday only to be confronted by Fred Dineage and one of the occasional 'Southern Soccers' meaning we were stuck with The saints V whoever, strangely enough I can never recall Southern Soccer showing the Gills.
I've always liked spurs and in light of the good start saints have had I'm not so fussed re. Poch and all the splitters that left for Liverpool... But I am enjoying being 2nd so hopefully another saints win and a funny press conference for Poch afterwards
I've always said then Robbie Savage is a good pundit!........ http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29469397
This is the same Robbie Savage that tipped Southampton and Swansea for relegation at the start of the season, isn't it? His opinions change every week. Absolutely clueless.
"It is always the same with Spurs. Every season, the expectations at White Hart Lane are far higher than anything they can realistically achieve." (Robbie Savage) Unlike 'Pool.
I'll repeat WSC's summation of Gobby Savage from a couple of months ago to the mere notion he is in any way "a decent pundit"... The BBC's continued employment of Robbie Savage, meanwhile, is presumably down to some dumb bigwig's belief that he's "provocative". In fact, the only things that Robbie Savage "provokes" are rolled eyes and muttered expletives, and then a lunge for the remote control. Yes, the British public love an idiot, but only if they're in some way unique - Savage could have been hauled out of any horrendous high-street pub in the country. A loudmouth with something to say is good television. A loudmouth with nothing to say just looks like what they are: an obnoxious, pig-ignorant fraud.
I'm hoping that Spurs will be firing on all cylinders for once this weekendand finally come together. If not, good luck to Southampton. If yes.....lets go lads!!!!!
