I saw my early Watford games from th Shrodell's stand. Not only was it made of wood, including the bench seats, but there was only a frame holding the seats and the foot area together so when you were sitting down there was a gap behind your calf muscles. It was possible to see the ground under the stand which, over the years (or the season) filled up with old programmes and assorted inflammable rubbish. People also smoked whilst they watched a game. How there was never a fire amazes me in retrospect. I hope I explained that well enogh to make sense!
There was a small fire there back in the late 70s or early 80s - Mrs L and I were standing in front of the stand when it caught fire - but was very quickly extinguished
Disappointing to see this has crept into a couple of our matches this season: http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/ne...der_not_tolerated_on_Watford_streets_/?ref=mr
It's quite worrying isn't it? Like any other town there is an unruly element in Watford and I do hope that their actions are not going to tarnish the club's reputation. If they weren't fighting with opposing football fans they'd probably be fighting each other...
The official opening was one of the very few matches we actually won when Sir Elton has been present wasn't it?
OFFICIAL: Watford have completed the loan signing of defender Sebastien Bassong from Norwich until early January

Clearly proves it was just Sannino he had an issue with - mind you the players haven't had the time to fall out with anyone else! Anyone going to the "At your place" evening on Thursday. Scott Duxbury is confirmed as attending...not sure who else!? http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/141016-at-your-place-watford-fc-2014-15-2008667.aspx

Manure declined to offer him a contract following this years NI Milk Cup tournament. WFC realised what they'd got, and offered him a 2 year apprenticeship with a guaranteed 1 year professional deal to follow. He accepted. It's all on WFC website.
