Tony Fernandes has been tweeting about QPR’s plans for Old Oak.

The club’s owners want to win the right to regenerate the area between Scrubs Lane and Willesden Junction, which would become known as New Queens Park and include a stadium for Rangers.

“Just passing old oak common on the Heathrow express having returned form dubai. what an amazing project we could do for the community,” chairman Fernandes wrote.

“Everyone can win. Its takes courage ,determination, putting people first and sharing the spoils for a better west london. Full stop.”

Meanwhile, QPR defender Rio Ferdinand has paid tribute to Ji-sung Park, who has been made an ambassador for Manchester United.

Park, who had an unhappy spell at Loftus Road, played alongside Ferdinand at United.

    “Appreciated & respected

Is that a hint that negotiations might take a turn towards a joint plan with Car Giant?

    Oh shut up Tony.

Tony takes the train rather than a limo? Really?

I have no idea, he probably isn't. Or it gives him the opportunity to tweet on the subject. I could just do without the communication, especially this 'doing it for the people' stuff. There is no shame in doing it for the profit, especially when you and your partners have already 'invested' £177m with no return.

I've been a strong supporter of TF on here, and still think/hope he is good news, and has the clubs and supporters interests at heart. But doubts are creeping in. Why not keep quiet until something actually happens re Old Oak and, say, actually do something about training facilities while we wait?

The QPR owners undoubtedly want to profit from being involved in the regeneration project but TF is absolutely right to say that having a stadium/entertainment complex as part of the plan is a win/win scenario for all concerned. The various planning authorities knew this and was the reason why they slated the stadium to 'kick-start' the station builds and other infrastructure that are key to the regeneration. Car Giant's plan is the complete opposite of this as they simply want to take advantage of being in the right place at the right time and hoover up as much cash as possible. The only mystery to me is why those some planners are not now leaning heavily on Car Giant to play ball.

We should do our bit by making sure the so-called Rangers supporting owners of Car Giant know our views (they are still season tickets holders I believe) and organise a boycott of the business.

I still can't see that Car Giant are really doing anything wrong in safeguarding their own interests. If for instance QPR were looking to increase the size of the stadium at Loftus Road, they would need to but up houses on Loftus Road. If I owned one of those houses and wanted a fair financial recompense for this I don't think that I would be in the wrong. And just because I am a season ticket holder, I wouldn't be looking to receive half of the value of my house to help the club I support.

Keep your doubts to yourself my learned friend. It's starting to get crowded in the Doubter's corner and we're only hoping that somehow Mittal is simply waiting in the wings.
If, and a chronic if, they're all just after the land and don't get it, what then?

I can hear 999s and Col now, you stupid, stupid man, why would multi millionaires with no previous to little old us be questioned? They've proved themselves time and again that they love us.

I remember playing a similar trick to good people before outsourcing all their work to S.E Asia.

So stop it Stan, we are enough cynics + jaunty Imaz already. Keep the faith, someone has to, I just don't believe in fairytales.
    Sorry

Car Giant are doing nothing wrong - they are carefully and respectfully maximising their own investments and portfolio.

I agree that the problem primarily lies with the planning authorities who have encouraged the club to be part of the project but seemingly are doing nothing to help overcome this initial obstacle. However, the stance of Car Giant in not even being willing to talk to the club about a possible deal is surely unnecessarily aggressive and not at all in keeping with so-called supporters. I realise a protest/boycott from our NZ contigent will have limited impact on a second hand car dealer in West London but there are plenty of us left in the area (35k+ at Wembley) that can make these guys sit up and take notice.

I'll do my best........I don't have any faith in Mittal though, unless he gives the club to Amit as a toy. Interesting that they are trying to get their hands on 838 -950 acres, when we need about 15 (Emirates is on a 17 acre site) to build a stadium though.

Also interesting that there is no mention of a stadium in the London Assembly consultation

    https://www.london.gov.uk/priorities/planning/consultations/old-oak-common

This was from last year, perhaps before QPR became a property development vehicle.

I can see why TF and Mittal are pursuing this, it will be vastly profitable (much more than a football stadium) and enable them to write off all they have thrown at QPR without a second thought. But it makes everything much more complicated and time consuming, it's naive to think that there won't be any competition to grab some of this gold, and to think that QPR supporters who live nowhere near the area could/should influence decision making is daft.

Unfair on Nines and Col though Danish. And so far even you and Imaz don't have any evidence that TF is malign.

I heard Liverpool are doing exactly this- buying up the housing around their ground to expand. Seems to me like this would be a quicker and less costly way forward for us, and should better maintain the atmosphere and history of our Ground / Club. But no doubt the huge potential profits of Old Oak aren't there.

I think you're right Oslo. I don't think that the owners would have any interest in simply increasing the capacity at Loftus Road. It's all about the potential money cow of the Old Oak re-development. It is a concern that if this doesn't come off would TF still retain an interest in QPR purely as a football club. I'm not so sure.

One of the terrace houses around Anfield would be worth 10,000 on the open market - if that. The houses on Ellerslie road are bigger and worth upwards of a million I'd imagine. It would be cheaper to just buy Car Giant.

Don't disagree with you kiwi but can I add reasonably to that sentence. By all means do the best for you company but within the bounds of reason. I wouldn't expect them to undersell it but don't take the piss either.

Also totally agree with the point Tooting made about buying the houses round HQ like Liverpool. It would cost way too much also wouldn't help with the car parking facilities and things like that. By building new, we can incorporate things like that but redevelopment at HQ wouldn't allow for it.
