How am I doing this as a windup? My grandfather lost 4 uncles in WW1. No doubt you too and many others lost members of their family. If you don't want to show respect, then don't but please cut out the crappy comments about the millions of people that died.
I think the people who are making these ****ty comments should **** off this thread it's only right that the people of Britain remember our fallen in past wars and if people like Tarquin and Zico want to make tits of themselves they should do it somewhere else and show some respect.
This kind of moping does noone any good. Ponty birds says we should not remember any wars now because it does no good.
Ever cross your mind that maybe I am patriotic and proud of my country. Like I say, it's up to you to pay respect, but no need for ****ty comments.
Grow up mate. You're the type of credulous idiot who the establishment get to do their fighting for them. Classic cannon fodder.
Are you going to make a point, or merely repeat what I said and post a smiley, like a thirteen year old female dullard? Zico's right. You did do this every week on 606. If you want to sit, moisty-eyed and self-righteous on the internet then there must be plenty of sites for war-mad ******s you could spam. I choose to believe that the people who lost their lives for this country would rather be left in peace than some wee walloper misappropriate their memory decades later solely for the purpose of noising people up on the internet. You're a ****ing disgrace. Away and have a look at yourself. Or, on the offchance that you're genuine - again - my apologies but there are more appropriate places for this. Have you been on this board before? Did it strike you as the place for serious navel-gazing? **** off.
Well done Medro ignore these fannies we should be proud of our history and those who dies serving our country, people like Tarquin and Zico have no idea what it means to show respect.
Me grow up? You're the one who says Zico is more important than bones in a field because he's alive. Ridiculous and horrible comment. If you want to pay respect, it's up to you, but like I said to Zico, leave the ****ty comments out of it.
I'm sorry, I thought you were doing your usual routine from 606. I apologise for the unkind remarks I made earlier. Of course I respect anyone who has the bravery to fight and die for their country.
Or, on the offchance that you're genuine - again - my apologies but there are more appropriate places for this. Have you been on this board before? Did it strike you as the place for serious navel-gazing? **** off. Apology accepted. This is as good as a place than anywhere else. A proper and fitting tribute to people lost in war or else you could discuss done childish wee topic on one of the other articles. As for the smiley, I thought that would some up my views on your opinion that NO wars should ever be remembered.
its right to honor the past but it is maudlin to dwell on it. where do you draw the line? should we still get teary eye'd in 200 years? should we commemorate every ambush, firefight or bombardment?
No-one's talking ill of the dead, or underestimating their sacrifices. The point is, respect should be paid privately, quietly and with dignity. Posting on the internet - and in particular this site, much as I enjoy it - is certainly none of those things.
I do and he's been doing it quite regularly since he signed up here. All he ever wants to do is start arguments about bigotry and sectariansim. It was because of ****s like him that people moved to not606 to get away from this ****e.
Yes. Grow up. You started out by saying that 'these men gave their life for the civil liberties that so many in this country take for granted these days.' Absolute balderdash. These men gave their life because they were told to. They grew up in a forelock tugging society and the thought of questioning their 'betters' didn't occur to them. This was a completely avoidable war and if people had stood up to the government instead of following them like sheep the whole thing would have been avoided. If WW1 taught us anything, it's that people need to think for themselves instead of blindly following authority. If, as you claim, you really want to pay respect to the people who died, you should learn this lesson instead of regurgitating a load of meaningless, maudlin ****.
"Posting on the internet - and in particular this site, much as I enjoy it - is certainly none of those things." So articles about rape, being a woman for a day or discussing the gayest sport is all good, but don't date mention a battle 95 years ago today that was the biggest loss for British soldiers in 1 day of fighting.
Were you really CapitalBhoy? And is it you who appears as him on here no offence if i was I hated you.
