Somebody said on the rivals thread that they would love a 0-0 at the bridge, with us parking the bus. It would drive Maureen mental with his own brand of '19th century football'
It would almost be worth dropping two points to see Arsenal try to park the bus.... Nah, it wouldn't. Wouldnt happen anyway, its so against Wengers DNA to defend.....you'll attack us with all the gusto as a drunk, windmilling uni lout and we will pick you off one goal at a time.....probably Its football so anything can happen. *shrug*
We have done it, we kinda did it against Dortmund last season when we beat them 1-0, wasn't a very pretty win at all.
There is a small element of caution for me in these fixtures. I do think every time "Is this gonna be the game where Wenger finally changes something? Where he finally cottons on that if he did maybe something just a tad bit different, it might throw Jose off?" And every time I am happy because he doesn't. Just so you know, I dont take this game, or any other, for granted.
Football is a strange game, sometimes when the other team seems to have no chance in hell and you think it's mainly a foregone conclusion, they pull off the upset.
Thats the ****ed up thing tho, Arsenal beating Chelsea SHOULDN'T be classed as an upset. Our squad this season is better than yours imo, but they are not so far apart to warrant the term "upset". MK Dons beating United was an upset, even Stoke beating City at the Etihad would be classed as an upset, but a top 4 team beating another top 4 should never be an upset. We were only seperated by what, 3 points was it? last season? But because of Wengers appalling record v Mourinho I think the media at least would dub it an upset.
Arsenal will be facing their hardest game all season and the step up in class will be huge, compared to Gala. Maureen has Wenger's number unfortunately and i haven't seen anything this season to suggest we will get anything from the bridge. The sad thing is if Cesc fancies it, he will slice our defence and non existent defensive midfield to shreds. Let's hope that Wenger does something to counter Maureen as we will be lucky not get another mauling. A draw will be a very good result considering our and Chelsea's form.
I think 87 is being a little bit over the top with an upset but Chelsea are clear favourites to win the game. Let's just say a draw will be a very good result for Arsenal. Wenger's record against Maureen is poor to say the least and he's been turned over by Maureen when Arsenal were playing better. We really haven't looked particularly impressive this season and although we are getting better, we need to be considerably better to get a result at the Bridge.
I don't think Wenger's ever beaten Mourinho, and with Chelsea's squad, i don't see it changing this time. We'll definitely do better than last season though, conceding anything below 4 is an upgrade in my book. If we can somehow steal apoint i'll be bloody ecstatic.
Usually very reliable stream sites for those that need them to watch the match http://cricfree.tv/ http://www.time4tv.com/
Just what we want really, teams that come at us. We generally play better against teams that attack (See all our games V Barca ever, all our games V Arsenal since 2005 and our games v Everton and Swansea this season). Its the cautious teams that park the bus that we have trouble breaking down usually, your Stokes and West Hams (thought West Ham look a little more adventurous this season) like against Leicester this season at home, which has been by far our toughest game to date (though luckily we managed to breach them in the end).
Gonna be interesting. There's no doubt our forwards can cause damage. Particularly the pace of a ... Sanchez---Wellbeck----Oxo ------------Ozil--------------- but its our lack of defensive cover in midfield that causes us problems.(particularly without Arteta) Flamini has been useless as of late so I would be interested to see Rosicky play a more defensive role. He's a good tackler and does a lot of running so I'm surprised Wenger hasn't tried it. I wonder if Diaby will make an appearance.
